Job Description

The Frontlines of Communities in the United States (FOCUS) Program within Legal, Compliance and Corporate Responsibility partners with healthcare institutions, government agencies, community health centers, and other community partners (FOCUS Partners) to:

  • Make routine bloodborne virus (HIV/HCV/HBV) screening a standard of medical care

  • Reduce the number of those who are diagnosed late, and help facilitate linkage to care

  • Expand dialogue on these issues with internal and external stakeholders, including government;

  • Change public perceptions and overcome stigma that may discourage testing

  • Utilize the FOCUS framework/methodology to improve screening and linkage to care for oncology.

FOCUS Regional Directors (RDs) are field based throughout the United States. FOCUS Program Partners are identified independently by FOCUS Personnel and are selected based on the potential for instructive and beneficial public health outcomes.

We are seeking a field-based Senior Manager, FOCUS to join our team and support statewide activities. This individual contributor may also work cross-functionally with Government Affairs and Policy teams, Medical Affairs, and Public Affairs.

This role provides strategic and operational leadership across multiple partner sites, overseeing program execution, quality improvement, data integrity, dissemination, and budget alignment while proactively elevating barriers and equity gaps. The Senior Manager serves as a key connector between external partners and internal teams—including Government Affairs, Medical Affairs, and Public Affairs—supporting statewide government collaboration, proposal development, and new partnership operationalization. By driving consistent partner engagement, evidence‑based practices, and scalable innovation, this position is essential to maximizing FOCUS’ public health impact, advancing health equity, and aligning program execution with Gilead’s core values of integrity, excellence, accountability, teamwork, and inclusion.

Reporting to the Senior Regional Director, Partnership, Practice and Innovation, you will assist in the assessment, development and execution of a state plan of action (POA) with partnerships that support best practices to improve and sustain routine HIV, HCV, HBV screening and linkage to care.

This is a Field Based – Florida, USA - Residence in Florida is required

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain ongoing dialogue with influential thought leaders and policy makers within the community about the importance and impact of routine HIV and HCV screening, earlier diagnosis, and improving health outcomes.

  • Lead bi-weekly FOCUS partner check-in meetings including, but not limited to agenda development, data review, continuous quality improvement, follow-up and key takeaways

  • Monitor FOCUS award implementation status at partner sites including implementation of screening and linkage to care and finance-related milestones.

  • Monitor partner data submissions and liaise with data manager representative for completion and quality assurance.

  • Elevate screening and linkage to care (SLTC) barriers and data to maximize public health impact and increase health equity

  • Develop dissemination goals by partnership setting type and award year with ongoing support towards dissemination priorities.

  • Develop case studies with emphasis on regional impact (e.g., SLTC emerging/best practices, routine screening infrastructure increasing health equity, linkage to HIV comprehensive prevention services...)

  • Support FOCUS Senior Regional Director with statewide government collaboration, proposal development and new partner onboarding/program operationalization

  • Establish strong working links with all relevant Gilead departments as appropriate (e.g., Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Medical Affairs)

  • Support and continue to evolve FOCUS’ implementation science strategy

  • Required travel - statewide travel is required along with at least 2-3 meetings/year in the US - about 25%

Minimum Required Education and Years of

  • Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years’ Experience OR

  • Masters' Degree and Six Years’ Experience OR

  • Ph.D.

Preferred Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience

  • Background in science, public health, public health policy, healthcare, or a related field preferred

  • 6–8 years of progressive experience in the healthcare industry, health policy, or a closely related field

Ideal Education & Specialized Expertise

  • Master’s degree or advanced scientific degree strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in implementation science, including program evaluation, quality improvement, person‑centered care, and outcomes measurement

  • Working experience of electronic health record systems and data reporting systems

Strategy & Program Leadership

  • Experience leading complex, collaborative initiatives and multi‑site partnerships, including proposal development, continuous quality improvement and budget management

  • Familiarity with data analysis, and statistical methods

  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic and tactical plans with a strong focus on innovation, outcomes and accountability

Leadership, Communication & Collaboration

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and translate complexity into actionable solutions

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear, compelling presentations to diverse and senior stakeholders

  • Demonstrated success building and sustaining cross‑functional, multidisciplinary relationships and influencing at senior and executive levels

  • Experience serving as a credible spokesperson and organizational champion, with executive presence

The salary range for this position is: $143,225.00 - $185,350.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
