We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join Kite’s Corporate Development and Strategy Team as the Senior Manager of Business Development. The Senior Manager will be actively involved in executing against Kite’s business development strategy to drive short and long term growth. This opportunity will be based in Kite’s Global Headquarters in Santa Monica, California and will report to the Head of Business Development. Occasional travel will be necessary for the job.
Responsibilities of the Senior Manager of Business Development include:
Establishes collaborative, effective, and trusting relationships with key internal functions including Research, Development, Commercial, Legal, and Finance to ensure the free flow of information and ideas
Supports identification, evaluation and execution of potential investment, licensing, partnership, and/or acquisition opportunities
Facilitates cross-functional coordination of due diligence efforts for opportunities of interest and ensures that assumptions are appropriately challenged and well validated by the relevant functional experts
Supports deal lead in term sheet and contract reviews in close coordination with Legal to support deal structuring and negotiation
Supports deal lead in negotiations and makes recommendations on deal terms based on analysis of appropriate comparable transactions and public comparable companies as applicable
Conducts market analysis, forecasting, and financial modeling as needed
Supports the creation of business case presentations for senior leadership, executive management and Board of Directors articulating key deal issues, risks and critical assumptions underpinning the business case
Implements business development initiatives that are consistent with corporate strategy
Basic Qualifications:
PhD Degree
OR
MS / MA Degree and 6+ years of Strategy and/or Operations and/or Business Development experience
OR
BS / BA Degree and 8+ years of Strategy and/or Operations and/or Business Development experience
OR
High School Degree and 12+ years of Strategy and/or Operations and/or Business Development experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business or finance (advanced degree is preferred)
2+ years of relevant experience within Pharma/Biotech, preferably with knowledge and experience in oncology, immunology and/or cell therapy
Prior experience in either corporate strategy, business development, corporate development, strategy consulting, venture capital, private equity or investment banking
Familiarity with drug development, approval, and commercialization process
Knowledge of early and late-stage transactions (strong forecasting and financial modelling capability a plus) and at least a high-level understanding of the science and technologies involved
Strong grasp of finance, accounting, and valuation key concepts and methodologies such as NPV, IRR, DCF, etc.
Ability to dive into a valuation model and understand the key value drivers, risks, and opportunities (strong forecasting and financial modelling capability a plus)
Track record of delivering under a sustained high-pressure environment and in ambiguous situations with limited information
Ability to work independently and experience working cross functionally within a highly matrixed organization, including ability to drive results across functions and levels
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to build and manage collaborative relationships at all levels inside and outside the organization to support decision making
