Job Description

Sr. Supply Chain Specialist (Procurement), Supply Chain, Alberta

This Edmonton-based Supply Chain position specializes in supporting the Gilead Alberta procurement strategy and provides operational execution of purchasing initiatives as required to meet the material and service needs of the facility departments. The Sr. Supply Chain Specialist will perform a variety of tasks within the Source to Settle process, including preparing RFx sourcing initiatives, Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders using the Gilead Alberta ERP Systems, Expediting Purchase Orders, Monitoring Supplier Performance, Supporting the Gilead Alberta User Group in troubleshooting ERP Performance issues, Addressing Supplier Invoice Payment issues and Correcting on-hold payments, Onboarding New Suppliers, Requesting Documentation and Market Information from the Supplier Network as needed, Effectively Communicating with Internal and External Groups to ensure Needs are Understood and Correctly Executed, Compiling Reports and Performance Summaries as needed, Becoming familiar with the Supply Chain Material Planning Activities, The Successful Candidate should have experience in an industrial procurement environment and familiar with various ERP Systems such as Ariba/SAP, Oracle. SCMP certification is an asset)

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Administrative:

  • Contributes to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and deviation investigations for the job family

  • Regularly provides reports on the inflow of materials.

  • Supports Purchase to Pay process for site.

Technical:

  • Purchases machinery, equipment, tools, chemicals, raw materials, packaging materials, parts, services and supplies meeting inventory goals and target dates.

  • Confers with vendors and analyzes vendor’s operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and ability to meet required timelines.

  • Coordinates the execution of suppliers’ Contracts and issues corresponding Work Orders. Identifies material flow issues and resolves them.

  • May contribute to reviewing proposals, negotiating prices and selecting or recommending suppliers.

  • Follows up on orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment and maintains records. Builds effective working relationships with other departments, suppliers and peers. Interacts with representatives of other departments and consults with them on their material requirements

Environmental, Health, & Safety (EH&S)

  • Brings any concerns regarding EH&S to Supply Chain Management, the EH&S Department or the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

  • Ensures that procedures for accident/incident/near miss reporting and investigating are carried out as per the relevant SOP.

  • Complies with all safety-related procedures and practices.

Basic Requirements:

  • BA and 5+ years of relevant experience

  • 2 year diploma and 7+ years of experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing experience with an ERP system (SAP and Oracle)

  • BA/BS in appropriate field including business or Supply Chain designation, is an asset.

  • 2 years Prior Industrial Experience.
