The Manufacturing Engineer II will play a key role in driving operational excellence within the Packaging department. This role focuses on improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) Packaging champion. Initially utilizing manually collected data
  • Support introduction of future OEE automated systems
  • Lead OEE governance to monitor process & equipment performance
    • Analyse OEE data trends, Pareto of Top 03 issues & corrective actions
    • Analise workflows and identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies. Apply lean principles (e.g., 7S, Kaizen, Six Sigma) to reduce waste and improve productivity
  • Monitor OEE data daily/weekly to identify trends, waste and improvement opportunities
  • Generate reports and dashboards for stakeholders (e.g., operations, engineering, leadership)
  • Continuous Improvements:
    • Work with production & maintenance teams driving the culture of Continuous Improvements within Packaging
    • Manage weekly CI forum within packaging
    • Support Kaizen events
    • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives
    • Manage / Lead or support projects related to process & equipment optimization
    • Be a change champion
    • Monitor change over performance
    • Collaborate with operations teams to optimize the change over process. Identify & remove waste
    • Train operators on the optimized change over process / standard of work
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes for efficiency & cost-effectiveness (reduce waste / rejected material / optimize yield)
  • Train operators, engineers, and supervisors on how to use the OEE system and interpret data
  • Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to ensure adoption and effective use of OEE data
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of GMPs and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
  • Experience applying Operational Excellence tools (e.g., DMAIC, Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Working knowledge of packaging systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to manage complex processes with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled in presenting technical information to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates initiative in training and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with established policies and procedures.

Typical Education & Experience

  • 2+ years of relevant experience and a BS in engineering.
  • Previous experience working with OEE
  • Previous experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry desirable.
