Job Description

Gilead is hiring an Associate II, Scientific Communication reporting to the Director of Publications Operations, who will support the operation and governance of iEnvision, Gilead’s global publications database system. They will assist in the maintenance of the database as well as ensuring PDN submissions are seen through to completion. This individual will be responsible for supporting the auditing process to ensure compliance as well as capture publication metrics.

This position is located at our Headquarters in Foster City, CA.

Job Responsibilities:

Point of contact for iEnvision database

  • Maintains iEnvision database (DV & PDN); assists in internal efforts for vendor enhancements, customization, and maintenance of the database
  • Responsible for PDN submissions per Therapeutic Area; seeing record through to completion
  • Supports the development of training materials
  • Supports monthly/quarterly/yearly metrics for therapeutic area publications as well as enterprise-wide metrics.
  • Assist in the development of key global scientific congress submission and disposition reports ensuring inclusion of all publications
  • Supports the monthly audit process to ensure compliance with Gilead’s SOP and good publication practices
  • Create records in DV to document encore publications
  • Escalate compliance issues and exceptions

Additional responsibilities include the following:

  • Understand the evolving publications landscape through engagement with and participation in professional societies (e.g., ISMPP)

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the health sciences or communication field with 4 years related experience OR MA/MS with 2 years’ experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive demonstrated experience in operation and maintenance of global publication database management (DataVision, PubSTRAT, PubsHUB) gained through working within other biotech/ pharmaceutical companies or a medical communication agency.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders and projects
  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage long-term activities in a constantly changing internal and external environment
  • Experience working globally, cross-culturally, and cross-functionally
  • Ability to understand and adhere to good publication practices and relevant guidelines on and scientific data communication, such as ICMJE, GPP3, and company policy and SOPs


The salary range for this position is: $109,650.00 - $141,900.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
