The Research Oncology department at Gilead Sciences (Foster City, CA) is seeking a talented and highly motivated Scientist to join IO/Oncology group. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the discovery, research, and development of novel therapeutic agents to address unmet medical needs of cancer patients.
- Independently plan, execute, analyze, troubleshoot, and interpret in vitro and ex-/in-vivo experiments that support non-routine research activities
- Proactively evaluate new technologies and develop new assays to accelerate early-stage discovery activities and/or enhance our understanding of MoA
- Support multiple projects simultaneously and work cross-functionally
- Present research findings and recommendations to senior staff and contribute to preparation of research reports, manuscripts, and regulatory document filings
- Provide coaching and training to junior and/or less experienced colleagues in solving technical and scientific problems
Basic Qualifications:
- 6+ Years with BS
OR - 4+ Years with MS
OR - 0+ Years with PhD/PharmD
Preferred Qualifications:
- Related life science PhD degree w/ 5+ years of academic/industry experience. Or, master's degree w/ 10+ years of industry experience.
- Preferred candidates have specialized in immunology, cancer immunology or cancer cell biology.
- Extensive experience in immune cell and/or cancer cell biology, target identification/validation in oncology or immuno-oncology
- Strong experience with cell culture & engineering (e.g. transection/transduction, RNAi, CRISPR KO/KI, ORF overexpression) of cell lines and primary cells (mouse/human)
- High proficiency in standard quantitative cellular assays (e.g. ELISPOT, ELISA, MSD, immunofluorescence, reporter-based assays) and proliferation/survival assays
- Candidates with strong mouse in vivo tumor models and flow cytometry experience is highly desired.
- A working knowledge of research data handling, analysis and visualization (e.g., Python script, R language) is a plus.
