Job Description
This is a site based role in Foster City, CA. We do offer two days (Monday, Friday) as optional work from home with our core collaboration days in the office; Tues, Wed, Thurs. Remote work is not available for this position at this time.
Core Responsibilities
- Champions the development and adoption of data collection, analysis, and visualization within the group
- Drives organizational maturity along the “data journey”; from raw data, to information, to insights, to action and results
- Develops and owns the knowledge management system(s) to enable efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis of key data
- Sets “best practice” related to data governance; responsible for the stewardship of data accuracy and validation of data provided by the organization
- Supports data-driven business planning and review processes within the organization
- Undertakes Operations Research projects to identify opportunities to optimize performance and minimize cost / risk
- Publishes analyses, reports and dashboards to provide an objective view of performance and risk
- Quantifies and reports gains from projects identified / implemented
Risk Management
- Ensures compliance with data governance standards
- Develops internal processes to ensure rigorous and systematic data curation
- Quantifies and communicate risks associated with routine and non-routine business operations
- Escalates issues related to data accuracy and compliance as necessary
Financial
- Manages, in partnership with Finance, the annual business planning cycle (LE process) for operational and capital expenditures within the organization
- Performs in-depth analyses to identify cost optimization opportunities and formulate recommendations to realize efficiencies
- Establishes and develops financial benchmarks for projects and operations
Business Partnering
- Partners cross-functionally to develop leading indicators that allow visibility into performance and risk
- Works proactively with internal partners as well as external vendors to drive the adoption of KPI’s and metrics in day to day work
- Continuous Improvement
- Infuses external knowledge and expertise to adopt new methods of analyzing and presenting data
- Creates training plans and materials, and conducts workshops on analytical tools and initiatives to increase knowledge within the team
Knowledge & Skills
- Must have extensive experience with data analysis and business performance reporting
- Must be highly analytical and comfortable working on complex problems in a variety of situations where analysis is required
- Proficient at collecting, analyzing and visualizing data. Familiar with tools such as R, Python, and Tableau that promote effective and evidence based managerial decision-making
- Able to develop schemes, systems, and programs for continuous improvement
- Proficient at planning and scheduling own and direct reports activities to accomplish objectives and goals
- Experience dealing with multiple budgets across a variety of currencies
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communicator; experienced and proficient at presenting to various groups and levels
- Experience with people management supported by a proven track record in managing change
Education & Experience
- Relevant university degree in a technical or business field such as computer science, statistics, data management, engineering, business or finance
- 12 years progressive experience in a technical field with Bachelors or 10+ Years with Masters level of education
- Advanced analytical skills; experience managing complex business problems and able to simplify ambiguous data sets to glean meaningful insights
- Strong financial acumen; experience developing and monitoring large budgets and expenditures in multiple currencies
- Extensive experience in business performance reporting and optimization with a track record in creating and improving processes and systems
- Ability to build effective working relationships across functions and to be a change agent and influence without authority
- Knowledge and experience of working within the Pharmaceutical, or a highly regulated, sector
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and conflict resolution skills
