We are seeking a highly motivated individual with scientific background and laboratory management experience to join us as a Laboratory Operations, Specialist II, Cell Therapy Technical Operations Process Development. The successful candidate will perform laboratory operations and management to enable our Process Development organization in advancing our exciting and expansive CAR T and TCR pipelines and next generation adaptive immunotherapy. The successful candidate will be expected to work with Facilities and Engineering to ensure proper laboratory equipment maintenance, aid in optimization of laboratory organization, perform regular audits to ensure safety compliance within the lab areas, interface with key stakeholders such as EHS, facility, and purchasing etc., and oversee continuous improvement efforts to ensure operational efficiency. The Laboratory Operations, Specialist II will work closely with the scientific staff to evaluate needs to optimize laboratory operations, including managing new equipment acquisitions, coordinating facility activities/capital projects, scheduling educational seminars, hosting regular operations updates and supporting new employee onboarding etc.
 

Responsibilities (include but at not limited to)
 

  • Oversee and maintain laboratory policies and procedures for equipment maintenance, laboratory cleanliness and organization, Environmental Health and Safety requirements
  • Manage purchasing of laboratory supplies and reagents, working with cross-functional groups to track orders, reconcile orders, invoices, and receipt confirmations
  • Actively oversee laboratory supply inventory for general use areas
  • Perform activities related to the maintenance of assigned laboratories, operational services, repairs – resolves daily laboratory and service issues; assists with and monitors the work of contract service providers for repairs and services.
  • Work closely with Facilities and Engineering department to coordinate equipment maintenance schedules, and coordinate with vendors to ensure rapid equipment repairs, equipment induction process, and utilization of electronic asset management system
  • Perform regular preventive activities on laboratory equipment in GLP-like environment, manage equipment moves and space utilization, as well as coordinating emerging equipment and technology demonstrations
  • Develop and maintain training documents for equipment, hazardous waste management, and laboratory safety
  • Acts as a point of contact between cross functional groups, sites, and outside collaborations + vendors
  • Work with teams to assist with sample inventory onsite and offsite; act as coordinator with offsite storage project management team
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency of the laboratory

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in Biology, Immunology, or Life Sciences with at 0+ years of hands-on experience in a laboratory
  • AS degree in Biology, Immunology, or Life Sciences with at 4+ years of hands-on experience in a laboratory
  • High School Diploma with emphasis in Immunology, or Life Sciences with at 5+ years of hands-on experience in a laboratory

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience purchasing laboratory supplies and reagents
  • Experience working with cross-functional groups to track and reconcile orders and process invoices
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety requirements related to laboratory equipment cleanliness and maintenance
