Job Description
We are seeking a creative and collaborative Scientist with a background in virology and/or immunology and a strong interest in developing new treatments for people living with HIV. The goal of our team is to investigate novel approaches to achieve virologic control without antiretroviral medicines or cure of HIV infection. The successful candidate will be involved in the discovery and rigorous pre-clinical testing of the most promising therapeutic approaches with the ultimate aim of rapid advancement to clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and evaluate novel molecular targets, therapeutic concepts and therapeutic agents that target the latent HIV reservoir and/or achieve virologic control
Establish and optimize preclinical models to assess HIV reservoir reduction and control
Establish assays and technologies that improve detection and quantification of the rebound competent reservoir
Utilize sequencing and gene editing tools to identify and validate novel drug targets
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including bioinformatics, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, protein therapeutics, and cell therapy
Present research findings and recommendations to scientific leadership team and contribute to preparation of research reports, manuscripts, INDs, and patent filings
Stay current with emerging technologies and literature to drive innovation
Basic Qualifications
PhD/PharmD
OR
Master's Degree and 4 years experience
OR
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years experience
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in virology, immunology, molecular/cellular biology, or a related field with at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience
Strong scientific track record demonstrated by first-author publications in high-impact journals.
Track record of productivity in diverse work environments
Prior experience using molecular assays to characterize the HIV reservoirs (e.g. PCR, digital PCR, flow cytometry, sequencing) is preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with enthusiasm for working in a driven environment characterized by rigorous scientific and innovative thinking
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
