We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of Associate Director, Business Operations to work in this exciting new area of cancer immunotherapy to support the development, management and execution of the site project portfolio at our new commercial cell therapy manufacturing facility in Frederick, MD. In this role you will report to and act as the Chief of Staff for the Vice President, Site Head of Operations.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Partner with leadership and business partners to facilitate alignment of site and Global Manufacturing integrated portfolio and performance with strategic objectives.

  • Work closely with Global Manufacturing Business Operations to ensure the site is aligned with the standards and methodologies for portfolio management, performance management, project management and change management.

  • Champion and improve practices for Operational Excellence, including the use of continuous improvement and Lean methodologies to drive efficiency, alignment, and effective processes across the manufacturing sites and in collaboration with the Center of Excellence

  • Lead improvement of performance management through identification of critical metrics, tools, and processes including reporting and data visualization

  • Support result delivery and execution by providing site portfolio management, project management, change management, operational excellence and other enabling capabilities

  • Provide organization business support including management of key site leadership meetings, off sites and communications

  • Direct management of a small business operations team

  • Monitor project expenditure, review vendor invoices and oversee submission for payment

  • Collect, consolidate and analyze program and project data to support effective decision making

  • Develop and maintain collaborative work relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Serve as an active member of the site leadership team and actively support site leaders to perform their duties to the best of their ability

  • Maintain a flexible mindset and be willing to perform varying duties depending on the shifting needs of the site and the VP, Site Head of Operations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of project management experience; or Master’s degree and 8 years of project management experience; or a Ph.D. and two years of project management experience; or High School degree and 14 years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of specific biotech industry experience

  • Knowledgeable with cGxP as well as regulatory regulations and compliance requirements for cell therapy and pharmaceuticals

  • Strong project and budget management experience

  • Exemplifies a continuous improvement mindset (Six Sigma green or black belt certified preferred)

  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within generally defined practices and policies that lead to processes for achieving results

  • Excellent organization and planning skills

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influential leadership capabilities

  • Ability to think critically with demonstrated troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • Demonstrate active listening and continuous feedback within team, ability to facilitate problem solving, decision making, and issue resolution

  • Proven ability to manage in a highly fluid, interactive, Site-matrixed environment
