  • Purify high-quality membrane proteins from mammalian or insect cell expression systems

  • Reconstitute membrane proteins into various membrane mimetic systems

  • Evaluate and characterize the quality, stability, functionality, and cryo-EM suitability of membrane protein targets in different mimetic systems

  • Apply classical protein purification techniques—including affinity, ion exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography—using AKTA chromatography systems

  • Showcase your work with a final presentation (PPT) near the conclusion of your internship

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8

  • Authorized to work in the United States without Sponsorship now or in the future or CPT/OPT through your University.

  • Strong foundational knowledge of protein biochemistry and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex experimental challenges

  • Proficiency in protein purification techniques across various expression systems

  • Demonstrated experience with classical protein purification methods and chromatographic instruments (e.g., AKTA)

  • Solid knowledge and hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: protein science analytics (e.g., sequence alignment, protein structure analysis using modeling software), SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, FPLC/HPLC, dynamic light scattering (DLS), differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF), and mass spectrometry
