Senior Manager, Global Procurement Services & Delivery

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager of Global Procurement Services & Delivery to join our Global Procurement Organization. In this role, you will be a member of the company's procurement shared services team, chartered to provide both stakeholder experience and spend management discipline within source to contract request management and service delivery.

The role will work within an end-to-end remit, supporting request intake, effective and efficient triage to the appropriate sourcing or buying channel and associated processes, while working collaboratively with our external Managed Services Provider (MSP) firm to ensure service delivery. You will play a crucial role in optimizing our procurement operations and ensuring that the MSP's team of resources delivers the expected value and results. This individual will leverage their sourcing and industry background, preferably from biopharma or life sciences, and will sit at the interface between the Global Procurement function and the MSP firm.

The successful candidate will have deep expertise in indirect sourcing, business process oversight, demand and delivery management, sourcing performance measurement, escalation handling, and continuous process improvements with a high degree of business delivery. A solid foundation in sourcing, category management, sourcing process and supplier management is critical for success in this role.

This position will be located at Gilead’s headquarters in Foster City, CA with a minimum of on-site work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and continuous improvement of request intake, effective and efficient triage to the appropriate sourcing or buying channel and associated processes.
  • Collaborates with local, regional and global procurement teams and the external MSP firm to manage sourcing, spot bidding, buy desk, and contract management activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and the MSP team to drive alignment on needs (i.e., demand, deliverables, timing, etc.), and drive toward achieving business objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate MSP performance, ensuring they adhere to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing procurement data and trends, and provide recommendations to enhance procurement processes and systems.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives as needed to support the overall business goals and objectives.
  • Make critical day-to-day decisions on overall delivery and management and/or lead escalations between the MSP partner and internal Global Procurement and businesses, where necessary.
  • Continually communicates internally to stakeholder, and externally to the MSP partner, and acts as an ambassador of the program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or contract management roles.
  • Familiarity with working alongside or managing relationships with an external MSP firm is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of procurement software and tools, such as e-sourcing platforms, contract management systems, and spend analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new processes, systems, and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is a plus.
  • Experience working in a global or multi-regional procurement environment. Exposure to various industries and procurement categories. Familiarity with sustainable procurement practices and supplier diversity initiatives.
