Duties & Responsibilities

Senior training manager is responsible for establishing and executing commercial and management training, and development program, and ensuring maximum effectiveness of the sales force through analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training curriculum, which includes new hire onboarding, advanced, and management training. Also leading the learning strategy aligned with commercial goals and strategy to support  business success.

  • Design and develop commercial curriculum according to China capabilities development goals;
  • Communicate with global CL&D team to update training sources and enure program rooted in china accordingly;
  • Deliver all commercial curriculum courses to commercial team and other support functions;
  • Led the design, development, and implementation of learning and development programs for HIV BU;
  • Design, develop and deliver employee development programs with H.R. Business Partners;
  • Ensures timely course curriculum or workshop updates to reflect product offerings and market demand changes.
  • Actively seek new, cutting-edge technology to improve training initiatives and build efficiency.
  • Stay abreast of and leverage Gilead best practices and industry best practices;
  • Support process for evaluating training effectiveness; revise training and training plan as needed;
  • Identify, develop and deploy appropriate learning mechanisms to include instructor-led and web-based acknowledge training.
  • Incorporate motivating, creative, and interactive training techniques to enhance the training experience to maximize learning and retention;
  • Design and implementation of sales product knowledge and selling skills training programs for the HIV sales team and sales leadership
  • Influence senior sales leadership and training advisory board using knowledge of best practices in principles of adult learning
  • Manage Sales Training budget and ensure that training initiatives and overall program are practical and efficient
  • Responsible for overseeing and managing direct reports and third-party service providers to ensure compliance with Gilead’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct policies, including adherence to U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act requirements and Chinese laws.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English (both oral and written);
  • 10+ years of total experience related to training, commercial background in the biotech or pharmaceuticals industry, including 2+ years of experience in global connection and project management;
  • Proven curriculum development and instructional design skills;
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines;
  • Must possess in-depth negotiating, influencing, and consulting skills and proven project management skills;
  • Fundamental understanding of business strategy and how to link HR initiatives to business initiatives;
  • Knowledge of learning principles and application in a technical business environment;
  • Experience in the learning design and development process required;
  • Creative, the autonomous professional with a strong work ethic and time management skills who can manage multiple priorities and drive organizational change that will result in measurable performance improvements
  • An advanced degree is preferred (MBA).
