Job Description
Kite’s Global Data and Digital Innovation team is the engine driving transformation to deliver premier HCP and patient experience through advanced data and digital capabilities. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Global Data Strategy and Solutions to lead our data solutions and data acquisition strategy in support of our customer engagement strategy. This critical role is responsible for developing and executing the strategy for acquiring and actioning diverse data sources to support customer engagement efforts across all customer-facing teams and segments.
This is a People Leader position in the Global Analytics and Commercial Operations (GACO) organization and reports to the Executive Director, Global Data and Digital Innovation (GDDI) team. The person will be a change agent and evangelize the usage and evolution of data and supporting solutions across Kite to drive business value and outcomes. This role can be based at our headquarters in Santa Monica, CA or our offices in Foster City, CA. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week onsite.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop and implement a comprehensive data acquisition strategy:
Identify and prioritize key data sources (e.g., real-world data, claims data, patient registries, EHR/EMR) aligned with business needs and regional analytics needs.
Evaluate potential data providers and negotiate favorable terms for data access and licensing.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and ethical considerations.
Partner with Gilead's Data Strategy teams to find synergies and opportunities for aligned data acquisition.
Strengthen and manage relationships with data partners:
Establish excellent relationships with key data vendors, academic institutions, and other data providers.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data quality and accessibility.
Oversee data acquisition and integration processes:
Develop and implement standardized processes for data acquisition, ingestion, and integration.
Ensure data quality, consistency, and security throughout the data lifecycle.
Collaborate with data engineering teams to develop and maintain data pipelines.
Contribute to data governance and data management initiatives:
Participate in the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures.
Ensure data is managed and used ethically and responsibly.
Promote data literacy and self-service analytics:
Develop and deliver training programs and resources to enhance data literacy across the organization.
Empower business users to access, analyze, and interpret data independently through self-service analytics tools and platforms.
Create a data-driven culture by fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Lead a team of data solutions experts to develop and implement data solutions:
Identify key business challenges and opportunities where data can provide solutions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions.
Ensure data is accessible, understandable, and trustworthy for business users.
Develop and maintain data dictionaries, glossaries, and other documentation to facilitate data discovery and understanding.
Stay informed about data enablement trends and technologies:
Monitor industry best practices and emerging data solutions tools and technologies.
Evaluate and recommend new solutions to enhance data accessibility and usability.
Lead customer master data capabilities:
Act as business owner for customer master data management, data stewardship, and data governance needs across Kite’s customer facing teams in Commercial and Medical
Team Leadership:
Support, mentor, and develop a diverse team of analysts.
Encourage a culture of feedback and development to attract and retain top talent.
Basic Qualifications
Advanced scientific degree (i.e. MD, PharmD, PhD) and 8+ years of experience OR
Master’s Degree and 10+ years of experience OR
Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of experience OR
Associate’s Degree and 14+ years of experience OR
High School Degree and 16+ years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
Subject matter expert with 10+ years of hands-on experience and comprehensive “functional” knowledge of commercial and medical data assets (Claims, EMR, Syndicated data) in life sciences.
Deep understanding of customer MDM ecosystem including knowledge of syndicated data sets such as OneKey etc.
Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, data acquisition methodologies, and data privacy regulations.
Excellent understanding of modern cloud-based data environments (AWS, DataBricks, etc) as well as BI tools (Tableau, QuickSight etc).
Motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal communication, oral presentation.
Exceptional influencing, partnership, and collaboration skills and ability to facilitate results within a matrix environment.
Resourceful strategic thinker with deep emotional intelligence and operational rigor.
Comfort and experience tackling ambiguous and complex problems.
Ability to lead and impact without authority.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, facilitate, interact with, focus, negotiate, resolve conflict, and encourage consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines.
Demonstrated excellence in program management, project management, change management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities.
Ability to inspire, motivate, train, and enable others to incorporate new processes, practices, and resources into their daily work.
Ability to work and achieve targets independently and as part of a team.
B2B and Agile methodology experience a plus
