Job Description
The Role:
The Lead, Payer Strategic Insights and Health Economics is a pan-portfolio leadership role within Value, Access & Pricing in Canada, reporting to the Sr. Director, Value, Access & Pricing and Patient Solutions.
This role is responsible for generating payer and access insights, leading health economic analyses, and translating evidence into clear strategic direction that strengthens reimbursement, access, and launch planning across the portfolio. The role connects local market access priorities with regional and global HEOR capabilities, ensuring that payer evidence, economic assessments, and market dynamics are integrated into decision-making in a way that is locally relevant and strategically actionable.
This leader will work across pipeline, pre-launch, peri-launch, and in-line products to shape access strategy, support forecasting and negotiation readiness, and strengthen the quality of economic evidence used in HTA and payer engagement. Success in this role requires strong strategic judgment, technical depth, cross-functional influence, and the ability to turn complex evidence into practical business insight.
How you will ‘Create Possible’:
Develop payer strategic insights and drive key/core health economics activities across the Canadian portfolio, ensuring they directly inform access strategy and business decision-making
Serve as the local expert on payer and access insights
Working with the Market Access strategy lead, support the adaptation of global evaluations and evidence to the Canadian reimbursement environment
Generate and consolidate payer, pricing, and access perspectives to inform value assessments, budget impact analyses, forecasting scenarios, and negotiation readiness, including key performance indicators/ metrics
Partner closely with Canadian Market Access, global and regional HEOR, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure aligned, decision-relevant assessments
Support payer research strategy by helping define business questions, shape study design, and translate findings into clear strategic recommendations
Support the design, development, validation, and documentation of Canadian health economic model needs with global, including cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses
Support the development of high-quality economic reports aligned with CADTH, INESSS, and public and private payer expectations
Monitor and interpret changes in Canadian reimbursement, HTA, and payer decision-making to identify implications for access strategy
Act as a key technical lead on economic methodology and evidence, including interactions with external partners, agencies, and stakeholders, as appropriate
Translate complex economic and methodological concepts into concise, credible insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
6+ years of experience in the biopharma or pharmaceutical industry, with strong exposure to payer insights, market access strategy, and health economics
Advanced degree in health economics required; background in science, public health, business, or a related discipline is an asset
Strong experience developing cost-effectiveness models and conducting indirect treatment comparisons
Demonstrated ability to generate payer and access insights that shape strategy and support high-quality decision-making
Experience building payer-, pricing-, and access-driven scenarios to support local commercial and market access planning
Strong understanding of the Canadian public and private payer environment; experience in relevant therapeutic areas is an asset
Excellent strategic thinking, analytical capability, and judgment, with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguity
Strong project leadership and ability to manage multiple complex initiatives across cross-functional teams
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to tailor technical content for varied audiences
Bilingual English and French capabilities, written and verbal, are an asset

The salary range for this position is CAD $158,355 - $204,930 annually. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary target annual bonus. Gilead determines base compensation by considering factors such as experience, qualifications, and geographic location. As a result, actual compensation may vary.AI Clause
