As The Senior Director, Market Access – Oncology, you will lead the U.S. market access strategy and execution for Gilead’s oncology portfolio. This role leads pricing, contracting, and market access marketing, oversee GPO and provider contracting, and drives strategy for the largest oncology accounts. Success requires strong matrix leadership and the ability to convert complex analytics into clear, actionable recommendations that align stakeholders and accelerate patient access.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oncology Strategy & Execution
    • Set and lead U.S. market access strategy across the oncology portfolio for all lifecycle stages (pre-launch, launch, post-launch).
    • Define access objectives, evidence needs, and value positioning to support pricing, reimbursement, and uptake across payer and provider segments (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid).
    • Monitor competitive dynamics and evolving clinical data to proactively adjust strategies.
  • Pricing & Contracting Leadership
    • Lead a high-performing team responsible for pricing, contracting, and market access marketing for oncology brands.
    • Own GPO and provider contracting strategy and execution, optimizing access, economics, and compliance.
    • Partner with Contracting Operations and Government Pricing to ensure policy-compliant, operationally sound execution.
  • Market Access Marketing & Value Communication
    • Develop and oversee strategies and tools that enable account teams to communicate oncology value propositions to payers, GPOs, providers, and IDNs.
    • Ensuring messaging reflects clinical differentiation, total cost of care, and real-world evidence.
    • Translate complex analytics into executive-ready insights and recommendations; track outcomes and refine strategies based on performance.
  • Leadership & Matrix Influence
    • Lead a team and broader matrix, influencing without authority, resolving conflict, and driving consensus across senior stakeholders.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and innovation; develop talent and succession plans.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure all pricing, contracting, and market access activities meet legal, regulatory, and company policy requirements.
    • Establish governance and standardized processes to manage risk and maintain audit-ready documentation.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Entrenched expertise in oncology market access and the role of pricing/contracting amid policy change and large customer dynamics.
  • Exceptional executive communication—able to distill complex analytics into clear narratives and decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead, influence, and drive consensus across diverse stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. reimbursement across commercial and government channels; experience with GPO/provider ecosystems and integrated networks.
  • Advanced project management and disciplined execution.
  • Through understanding of adjacent functions (Managed Markets, Brand Marketing, Finance, Market Research, Medical, Legal, Contracting Operations, Global Value & Access).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (MBA, MPH, MS in Health Economics, PharmD, or related).
  • 12–14+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience, including significant oncology market access leadership.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, benchmarking, and primary market research among payers and KOLs.
  • Oncology product launch experience with demonstrated impact on pricing, access, and uptake.
  • Track record of leading teams and matrix organizations; success influencing senior executives and cross-functional partners.
