Job Description

As a Senior Director, Oncology Pipeline Commercial Strategy, you will play a key role in driving the global commercial strategy for early oncology pipeline programs. From preclinical through Phase 2, you will work with cross-functional partners such as Gilead Asset Team Leads, Global Decision Sciences and Insights, Global Medical Affairs, Global Value and Access, Clinical Development, Governmental Affairs, Regulatory, and Biomarkers to drive the development of a clear commercial strategy that ensures Gilead's early oncology programs provide a clear value proposition.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Director, Global Commercial Product Strategy & Operations, Oncology Pipeline, the role responsibilities include:
Provide strategic commercial leadership for Gilead's early-stage oncology pipeline, serving as a core member of Gilead Asset Teams and shaping global commercial strategy from preclinical development through Phase 2.
Anchor commercial strategy in a deep understanding of disease biology, unmet patient need, and evolving standards of care, ensuring early pipeline programs are positioned to deliver meaningful patient impact.
Partner closely with Asset Team Leads, R&D, Medical, Value & Access, Regulatory, and other global stakeholders to integrate commercial insight into development decisions and align on long-term asset priorities.
Ensure pipeline and disease strategies clearly articulate differentiated value for patients, health systems, and society, while supporting sustainable value creation for Gilead.
Lead the development of commercially informed early Target Product Profiles, provide strategic input into Clinical Development Plans, and drive early commercialization work as needed (e.g. branding, naming, education initiatives, packaging).
Orchestrate cross-functional teams to develop and maintain disease area strategies that anticipate near- and long-term portfolio evolution and inform investment, prioritization, and governance decisions.
Contribute strategic commercial perspective to business development evaluations and external opportunity assessments, as needed.
Represent the commercial voice within program governance, owning critical commercial workstreams and ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and oncology portfolio objectives.
Build trusted, collaborative relationships with global partners to drive alignment, accelerate decision-making, and enable high-impact execution across functions.
Your ultimate benchmark will be the successful execution of a global commercial strategy that maximizes the overall value of the asset and patient access across the product lifecycle.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 12 years' experience, OR
Master's Degree and 10 years' experience, OR
PhD and 8 years' experience
Preferred Qualifications
Prior oncology experience required.
Prior experience working with early-phase programs and understanding how early research & development decisions may impact a final product profile.
Strong analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to interpret and distill diverse insights from cross-functional global commercial partners (forecasting, market research, competitive intelligence, value & access).
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build credibility with cross-functional partners, as well as present to wide audiences including peers and executives.
Proven experience providing clear recommendations to senior management and across functional areas.
