We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative leader to join us as a Manager of Warehouse and Materials Management as part of the Supply Chain organization. The Manager will support the startup of Kite’s brand new, state of the art, commercial Cell Therapy facility nearing completion of construction in Frederick, Maryland.

Specifically, the Manager, internally known as a Manager of Supply Chain, will be responsible for delivering timely operational readiness of the warehouse to support planned cGMP activities. This includes ensuring systems, processes and staff are in place for materials receiving as well as component preparation and product shipping.

Responsibilities of the Manager of Warehouse and Materials Management include:

  • Ensures readiness and subsequent management of cGMP compliant warehouse operations covering receiving, component preparation for manufacturing and final product shipping

  • Recruits and manages a team to deliver against site capacity plans

  • Assists the head of department in developing staffing models to ensure department is appropriately resourced and trained to meet capacity requirements

  • Develops, implements and maintains appropriate staff training curricula meeting cGMP and HSE requirements

  • Establishes, measures and tracks operational performance through KPI’s and drive continuous improvement to reduce cost and improve quality

  • Collaborates with Quality, Planning, Manufacturing and Logistics teams to ensure site and company goals are met

  • Delivers relevant departmental input and assessments for change controls, investigations, and deviations. Lead implementation of assigned corrective and preventative actions

  • Assists the head of the department in operational and capital budget development and ensure team adheres to the approved budget

Requirements:

5+ years’ experience in Supply Chain and/or Operations and/or Manufacturing with a Master’s degree

OR

7+ years’ experience in Supply Chain and/or Operations and/or Manufacturing with a Bachelor’s degree

OR

12+ years’ experience in in Supply Chain and/or Operations and/or Manufacturing with a High School degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Team leadership and management experience in clinical or commercial manufacturing

  • Experience in cold chain management in a pharmaceutical or medical setting

  • Experience with Change Control Management, Deviations and CAPA Systems

  • Proven warehouse and materials management experience in life sciences or relevant area

  • Working knowledge and understanding of GMP, GCP, GDP, and relevant ICH and FDA guidelines

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven successful collaboration in a cross functional environment

  • Logical thinking with strong analytical skills for problem solving, risk identification and management

  • Thrives in a startup, fast-paced environment with ‘can do’ attitude under minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

  • Experience with Oracle EBS, SAP or similar strongly preferred

  • Experience in implementing improvements using operational excellence and lean principles. Six Sigma certification preferred

  • Willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description

  • Proficient in Warehousing software, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

The position will be based out of Kite’s Frederick facility but will also require flexibility to support Kite’s Gaithersburg location on an ad-hoc basis (about 25 miles away).
