We are seeking a highly motivated leader for the role of the Head of US Health Systems. The Head of US Health Systems reports to the Vice President & General Manager, US Organization, and serves as a key business partner in driving CAR-T access expansion through both strategic and operational leadership. In this role, you will work in close collaboration with enterprise-wide teams to achieve these goals. This position is based out of our Santa Monica, CA headquarters, but a remote arrangement may be considered with regular travel.
Key Responsibilities
Direct efforts to develop Kite's payer engagement strategy, and engage with key stakeholders to overcome UM paradigms and expand commercial CAR-T access
Direct all strategic efforts to engage with Authorized Treatment Centers (ATCs) and prospective new centers and expand access to CAR-T
Manage efforts to grow Kite's ATC footprint in the US, especially in the community setting
Engage with external contacts at ATCs and new sites to understand key barriers to delivering CAR-T to patients
Evaluate opportunities to improve the financial attractiveness of CAR-T
Oversee the creation of compelling narrative articulating curative potential of CAR-T, financial opportunity for providers, and benefits of being an ATC; continuously evaluate and refine
Ensure that Kite is providing support throughout the patient journey, including delivery updates & reimbursement support where required
Collaborate closely with other members of the US Commercial Leadership team to drive short-term sales growth and prepare the market for future product launches
Basic Qualifications
Advanced scientific degree (i.e., MD, PharmD, PhD) and 14+ years of experience OR
Master’s Degree and 14+ years of experience OR
Bachelor’s Degree and 16+ years of experience OR
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or other related advanced degree
15+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in payer relations with a proven track record of success
Thorough understanding of hematology / oncology clinical landscape and the business of cell therapy
Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated understanding of new payment models and market access strategies that can address payer needs and overcome market barriers
Strong leadership skills, proven ability to execute on additional roles beyond core responsibilities.
Strong understanding of US cell therapy coverage and reimbursement and demonstrated ability to successfully address customer questions
Demonstrated ability to integrate diverse market dynamics into a coherent strategy that is designed for ease of implementation
Comfort with uncertainty and demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment under tight timelines and independently determine appropriate action where precedent may not exist
Demonstrated success in influencing key stakeholders working collaboratively in a cross-functional environment through excellent communication (written and verbal) skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, high EQ, and persuasion
Strong record of deploying strategic thinking, effective team leadership, and building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
Experience presenting to senior management and interfacing with legal, regulatory, and compliance functions
