Job Description

Sr Manager (m/f/d) Commercial L&D

Key Responsibilities
· Strategic business partnership and accountability: Acts as the strategic CL&D Business Partner to assigned Commercial Business Units. Builds a deep understanding of business strategy and performance needs. Take accountability for translating these priorities into clear capability strategies and measurable development outcomes.

· Sales training design and delivery: Develops and executes training on product knowledge, new promotional campaigns, communication skills, new hire training, sales meeting training workshops & other ad hoc Field Sales needs.

· Long-term capability planning: Owns the long-term capability roadmap for assigned Business Units, aligned with franchise strategy, Plan of Action cycles, launches, portfolio evolution, and future organizational needs. Anticipates capability gaps early and initiates solutions before they affect business performance. Monitors and maintains alignment with Commercial group’s strategic training plan while balancing short-term and long-term business goals.

· Business partner to BUs, Functions and regional / global stakeholders: Partners with departments, subject matter experts and key stakeholders to identify training needs, improve training solutions and lead change initiative implementation. Collaborates and drives cross-functional alignment with relevant internal departments including: BUD Marketing, Field Leadership and Sales Teams, Commercial Operations, Medical Information, and Business Conduct/Compliance to develop current, effective, and compliant trainings. Represents German CL&D in regional and global forums to ensure local business needs are reflected in regional and global initiatives.

· Integrated curricula and learning journeys: Independently leads learning initiatives from needs analysis and strategic design through stakeholder alignment, implementation, impact measurement, and continuous improvement. Offers solutions for bridging gaps between current organizational capabilities and needs. Develops and continuously evolves holistic capability frameworks, curricula, and learning journeys covering disease and product expertise, marketing excellence, customer engagement, omnichannel capabilities, digital competencies, and the Gilead Selling Model.


· Future-ready learning solutions: Analyzes the characteristics of existing technologies and their use in instructional design. Designs and optimizes blended learning ecosystems that combine face-to-face, virtual, digital, AI-enabled, and on-the-job learning. Selects approaches based on business need, learner context, scalability, and expected impact. Defines meaningful success measures to continuously improve the capability strategy.

Minimum Experience:
- 8+ years of Biotech/Pharma experience and a BS or BA degree, successful Biotech/Pharma Field Sales experience strongly preferred.

- Prior commercial training experience and experience launching a pharmaceutical / biotechnology product preferred.
- Demonstrated strategic acumen and the ability to translate long-term business objectives into sustainable capability strategies and roadmaps.

- Proven ability to operate as a trusted Business Partner, constructively challenge assumptions, influence senior stakeholders, and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations

- Strong interpersonal communication, facilitation, problem solving, decision making and analytical skills.

- Highly self-motivated and self-managed; ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to organize and work under strict time and production deadlines, while producing quality deliverables.
- Proficient organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at one time.
- Excellent project and change management skills, including prioritization, decision-making, risk management, and disciplined execution.
- Ability to use data, learning metrics, and business insights to assess impact, make decisions, and drive continuous improvement.

- Comfortable working with people at all levels of the organization as well as with suppliers, vendors and customers. Experience in matrix leadership a requirement.

- Experience managing a budget effectively.

- Fluent in German and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Copilot and related AI applications, Word and PowerPoint.
