Job Description

We are seeking a Director, Compliance, reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) & Global Head of Litigation. This role will partner with the CCO to strengthen our culture of compliance and integrity, build and deliver practical policies and scenario-based training, and conduct monitoring, auditing, and investigations consistent with business strategy, company values and compliance expectations. We are looking for an experienced healthcare compliance leader from the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry. The successful candidate will have experience working within an organization with a US-based headquarters as well as experience with operations in major markets worldwide. The candidate must have a strong background and exposure to healthcare laws across the globe, including anti-bribery/anti-corruption laws.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

  • Lead in developing a culture of compliance and integrity, advising senior executives and managers to set a tone from the top and embed compliance and integrity into Kite’s culture
  • Partner with the CCO in building an effective compliance program, ensuring consistent and effective global operation of compliance training, communications, monitoring, transparency and policies
  • Consult on business activities and initiatives that pose compliance considerations, working closely with the legal and business conduct teams who provide primary support for relevant business functions
  • Create practical, understandable policies and procedures to make compliance easy, fast and efficient
  • Build knowledge hubs and tools to make compliance resources more accessible, and cascade compliance information on a timely basis
  • Develop and lead on-line and live training programs, set up monitoring programs as an early warning system, and implement audit programs to assess the state of compliance
  • Conduct investigations of alleged misconduct
  • Drive global consistency in our compliance program and ensure best practices are shared and adopted across geographies and functions
  • Limited domestic travel

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD with 8 years of experience in law, consulting or compliance OR
  • MA/MS with 10 years of experience in law, consulting or compliance OR
  • BA/BS with 12 years of experience in law, consulting or compliance OR
  • High School Diploma with 16 years of experience in law, consulting or compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 years of professional experience in biotech and/or pharmaceuticals advising in all relevant areas of healthcare compliance
  • Juris Doctorate or fully qualified legal credentials in one or more geographies of operations
  • Deep understanding of compliance programs and policies
  • Ability to exercise judgment and propose courses of action where precedent may not exist
  • In-depth understanding of business objectives and how those translate into healthcare compliance priorities to deliver advice and guidance to the business
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), listening, and influencing skills
  • An inquisitive mind with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed organization with multiple functions, together with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, professional maturity, and personal integrity
  • Independent, self-starter with a solutions and results-oriented mindset
  • Experience with systems and structures that facilitate an efficient and effective compliance program, including mobile platforms
  • Experience, confidence, resilience and gravitas to work with senior executives and establish rapport with key stakeholders, continually seeking voice of customer
  • Proven leadership skills with an ability to set a vision, champion change, collaborate, and drive innovative thinking
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
