The Director, Global Compliance Systems & AI Enablement is a senior business product leader responsible for defining and owning the product vision, strategy, and outcomes for Ethics & Compliance (E&C) systems and AI-enabled capabilities. This role advances the effectiveness, efficiency, and scalability of Gilead’s ethics and compliance program through the responsible and innovative application of technology and AI.
Acting as the product manager and business owner, this leader sets product direction, prioritizes the product roadmap and backlog, and partners closely with IT, Legal, and other cross‑functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant solutions. The portfolio includes compliance‑specific platforms, human‑in‑the‑loop agentic AI workflows, and Copilot Studio–based agents that enhance compliance decision‑making, consistency, and defensibility.
The ideal candidate brings deep ethics and compliance domain expertise, strong product management discipline, and fluency in AI‑enabled capabilities, with the ability to inspire adoption and trust across the global compliance community. This role reports to the Vice President, Global Compliance Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the product vision and multi‑year roadmap for ethics and compliance systems, data, automation, and AI‑enabled capabilities.
- Align product strategy to core E&C program priorities, including policies, training, transparency, monitoring, risk detection, and mitigation.
- Establish clear value and outcome metrics (e.g., risk reduction, decision consistency, cycle‑time improvement, adoption).
- Partner with Global Compliance Operations and Office of Ethics & Compliance SMEs to identify unmet needs and improvement opportunities.
- Translate compliance needs into product requirements, user journeys, and prioritized epics and features.
- Own and continuously prioritize the product backlog, balancing regulatory urgency, user impact, value, and delivery feasibility.
- Serve as the business product manager, working in close partnership with IT and platform teams responsible for solution design, engineering, security, and operations.
- Ensure clear handoffs, decision rights, and accountability between Compliance (product direction) and IT (delivery execution).
- Guide pilot‑to‑scale transitions by defining target operating models, support needs, and enhancement roadmaps.
- Lead the productization and adoption of AI‑enabled compliance capabilities, including:
Compliance‑specific Copilot Studio agents
Human‑in‑the‑loop workflows that reinforce judgment, consistency, and defensibility
Automated compliance content generation within defined guardrails
Risk detection signals, insights, and operational dashboards
Efficiency‑enhancing capabilities that support global compliance teams
- Ensure all products are designed with governance, transparency, explainability, and auditability embedded as core requirements.
- Define responsible‑AI product standards in partnership with Legal, Privacy, Security, and Risk.
- Evaluate emerging technologies in partnership with IT and identify opportunities that deliver measurable impact while aligning with responsible‑use frameworks.
- Own the end‑to‑end product lifecycle: strategy → delivery → adoption → measurement → iteration and partner with IT on the solution design and delivery.
- Implement structured feedback loops (user input, metrics, audits) to drive continuous product improvement.
- Ensure systems remain fit‑for‑purpose, well‑integrated, usable, and sustainable over time.
- Lead product adoption strategies, including communications, training, demonstrations, and success metrics.
- Build confidence and fluency in AI across the global compliance community.
- Act as a visible educator and spokesperson on responsible AI use in compliance operations.
- Maintain strong cross‑functional partnerships across Compliance, Legal, IT, HR, and the broader business.
- Ensure Compliance remains the primary decision‑maker on product priorities and outcomes.
- Drive alignment across regions and functions on shared product standards and capabilities.
- Oversee budget planning and investment prioritization for the compliance product portfolio.
- Represent Gilead externally in relevant industry forums and discussions related to compliance technology and responsible AI.
Minimum Education & Experience:
12 years of relevant compliance experience with a bachelor's degree in related field or 10 years of experience with a master's degree.

The salary range for this position is:
Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
