We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Supply Chain team as a Trade Compliance Specialist to be based remotely somewhere in the United States. Internally known as Senior Supply Chain Specialist, the Incumbent will monitor facilitates import / export shipment transactions while working closely with the corporate logistics departments and brokers. In turn, the Trade Compliance Specialist will for resolve information requests in a timely manner from Brokers for import clearance of commodities.

The Trade Compliance Specialist is expected to support PST (Pacific Standard Time) operations and is required to be able to work those hours.

Responsibilities of the Trade Compliance Specialist Include:

  • Assigns HTS & ECCN classifications to commodities & maintains their database

  • Quickly resolves any outstanding issues with PGAs to ensure fast clearance of commodities

  • Manages Trade Compliance and Regulatory processes and requirements in EMEA, LATAM and APAC Regions

  • Administers import & export recordkeeping requirements

  • Responsible for COO determination

  • Conducts customs brokerage & shipment transactions audits

  • Works on development implementation, improvement, training and audits of Trade Compliance policies, procedures and WIs

  • Sets up new compliance relationships and the underlying operations to support them

  • Ensures compliance with foreign legal requirements related to the import & export to and from foreign countries

  • Works with Tax and brokers to correctly setup VAT entry transmission information on entries

  • Acts as liaison between end-users, IT and cross-functional teams in the analysis, designs, configuration, testing and maintenance of systems to achieve optimal operational performance

  • Performs export compliance screening against the Denied Parties Lists

  • Uses ACE to generate reports, analyze them and submit EEI filings as well as communicate with Customs & OGAs

  • Develops presentations and effectively communicates findings, results & action plans to peers and management

  • Builds FDA Import product codes

  • Provides Trade Compliance Training to operations personal when needed

Basic Qualifications:

MS / MA Degree with 3+ years of Supply Chain and/or Trade Compliance and/or Operations experience

OR

BS / BA Degree with 5+ years of the aforementioned experience

OR

High School Degree with 9+ years of the aforementioned experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of trade compliance experience

  • Licensed Customs Broker

  • Familiarity/certification in Lean Methodology

  • Oracle experience

  • Pharmaceutical industry knowledge and experience

  • Well versed in FDA, USDA, CDC and EPA and other OGAs regulations and operational procedures

  • Solid understanding of Incoterms and their application

  • Ability to reconcile entries with Customs

  • Familiarity with CROSS and ability to analyze rulings and how they apply to transactions and commodities

  • Well versed in using MS Office suite software

  • Ability to work and problem solve complex compliance issues independently

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to analyze data and metrics, draw conclusions and determine actions

  • Capacity for autonomous problem solving and demonstrated multi-tasking capabilities

  • Ability to identify process deficiencies and streamline current procedures

  • Strong attention to detail, time management, prioritization and organizational skills
