Position Description:

  • This position reports to the Therapeutic Area (TA) Lead for HIV & COVID-19, Medical Affairs Japan
  • This position will be primarily responsible for the execution of Medical Affairs projects and activities in support of the HIV portfolio. This role will collaborate closely with the HIV Treatment Lead, and partner with other in-house colleagues, field-based Medical Scientists, and cross-functional teams

Essential Duties and Job Functions

  • Collaborate closely with the HIV Treatment Lead and be accountable for the operational execution of Medical Affairs activities, including but not limited to, advisory boards, medical symposia, educational programs, and scientific content development
  • Partner with key medical stakeholders, such as the Franchise Lead, Data Generation Lead, and Medical Scientists, to ensure alignment and integration of medical initiatives
  • Provide medical and scientific insights to support HIV strategy development, address unmet medical needs, and contribute to improved patient outcomes
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Marketing, Patient Safety, Public Affairs, Legal, and other relevant teams to ensure the coordinated execution
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical and scientific expertise in HIV field to effectively execute strategic medical activities
  • Demonstrate strong learning agility to continuously monitor the evolving disease landscape, including disease management, emerging therapies, and competitive intelligence
  • Ensure all medical activities adhered to corporate and healthcare compliance standards in Japan, including clinical trial conduct, scientific interactions, and responses to unsolicited medical/scientific requests
  • Ensure all adverse events (AEs) are captured and reported to Patient Safety department

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Medical Affairs or related functions in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong understanding of HIV and infectious diseases is preferred
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills both in Japanese and English
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective team player with a collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong partnerships across Medical Affairs and cross-functional teams
