We are seeking a highly motivated leader to join us as an Associate Director to lead the Strategic partnership activities and product launch operations for Kite’s lifesaving T cell therapies for cancer treatment in Asia. This individual will serve as “single point of contact” with Kite’s strategic partners and Asia supply chain and launch operations planning. This leadership role, based in Kite’s Santa Monica, CA headquarters, will gather requirements from Commercial Operations, Regulatory, and Tech Ops, as well as other supporting functions, to translate commercial strategy into an execution plan, and maintain the plan for the Partnership team. The Associate Director will form and lead a cross functional Tech Ops launch team to ensure all participating functions and activity planning are comprehensive and well-coordinated, feasible for execution, all risks are identified, and risks mitigation plan are in place. The team shall ensure launch activities progress per plan and escalate issues to the functions for timely resolution. The team shall also ensure post launch transition plan in place to a steady operations mode according to S&OP supply plan. He/she will collaborate with cross-functional teams in Europe and US including Technical Operations, Commercial Operations, and Regulatory, IT, Finance and External Service providers to accomplish Kite’s objectives for product launch and lifecycle management. 

Responsibilities of the Associate Director of Supply Chain – Asia Launch Lead include:

  • Translates the Asia Commercial launch strategy and requirements of Tech Ops planning in Asia and globally into a Tech Ops launch plan

  • Understands the products, manufacturing, quality, logistics and order to cash requirements for every launch that reflect the regulatory requirements in Asia

  • Creates a product specific launch plan and playbook to meet commercial and regulatory, and validate it with key stakeholders

  • Builds and leads a competent launch team to ensure proper representation and knowledge, and ownership of the launch planning activities including patient Aph & final product logistics, trade compliance, packaging engineering & labeling, manufacturing readiness, forecast/capacity planning and business systems readiness

  • Facilitates cross functional and joint launch team planning to ensure critical path activities and the ownership of those are clear, and risk mitigation plan in place

  • Ensures the team has an effective communication mechanism to synchronize execution steps and adjust plan in a timely manner, a status reporting mechanism reflecting project health, and regular check points debriefing critical launch step activities

  • Leads post launch transition planning including hypercare and ongoing activities and ensure effective handover to daily operations team

  • Establishes and operates launch performance metrics

  • Works with the launch team to ensure effective escalation path for timely issue resolution

  • Owns Supply Chain launch work stream to ensure successful plan implementation by working with the Supply Chain leadership team

  • Closely connects with Commercial Operations and Global Operations team to ensure prospective planning for launch countries on the horizon and provide input for the S&OP process

  • Defines a scalable launch process that includes create and update the launch plan and playbook template that is suitable for the region

  • Up to 25% travel (international)

Basic Qualifications:

PhD degree with 2+ years’ experience working in global organizations within Launch Operations and/or Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing

OR

MA / MS degree with 8+ years’ experience working in global organizations within Launch Operations and/or Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing

OR

BS / BA degree with 10+ years’ experience working in global organizations within Launch Operations and/or Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing

OR

High School Degree with 14+ years’ experience working in global organizations within Launch Operations and/or Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Well versed in biopharma product launch and lifecycle management in a role leading regional launch planning and execution

  • Technical knowledge of biopharmaceutical product launch, working knowledge of CMC and regulatory requirements

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of GMP and working with Quality and manufacturing organizations

  • Knowledge in working directly with commercial operations on regional and country launch plans

  • Ability to work together with leadership team members

  • Demonstrated leadership quality and effectiveness setting up and leading cross functional teams in a global environment and in matrix setup

  • Experience in Asia region is a plus

  • Ability to work non-standard hours

  • Experience in seeking out information related to launch requirements and formulate launch plan

  • Project management and resource planning experience

  • Designed and operated an effective post launch performance monitoring system

  • Display strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to anticipate variance and risks and develop options

  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; additional linguistic skill is a plus

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, self-directed and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

  • Quick learner of new technology/process/work environment and ability to translate learning to work plans for improving business performance

  • History of exhibiting discipline in planning and plan execution

  • Patient-centric mindset
