We are looking for a Senior Director of Global Supply Chain Strategy, Business Operations, and Intelligence reporting to the Vice President of Global Supply Chain. The Senior Director you will serve both as a senior leader on the Global Supply Chain Leadership team and as well as a key thought partner to the VP of Global Supply Chain immersed in both the strategic and operational elements critical to achieving the strategic objectives of Kite’s best in class CAR-T Global Supply Chain organization, Kite Technical Operations, and Kite’s mission to serve cancer patients. This includes leading a team tasked with providing critical business support for the End-to-End Supply Chain organization through Operational Excellence, Supply Chain Risk Management, Project and Portfolio Management, cGMP Change Control Ownership and Management, and Supply Chain Data Science & Analytics. The Incumbent will also work cross-functionally across other Technical Operations functions as well as with our Commercial and Clinical business partners.
Responsibilities of the Senior Director of Global Supply Chain Strategy, Business Operations, and Intelligence include:
Leading Excellence in Supply Chain Strategy and Business Operations:
Driving organizational results and strategic initiatives through strong operational knowledge, enterprise-wide collaboration, and cross-functional leadership/alignment.
Leading a team of highly skilled professionals and developing your staff through active career planning, continuous feedback on performance, and providing guidance and support when navigating challenging situations.
Partner and lead the Global Supply Chain Leadership team through development and advancement of Kite’s Global Supply Chain 3-5 year strategy and organizational design in alignment with the Technical Operations strategic priorities, initiatives, and goals.
Driving the development of strong functional goals through Hoshin Kanri principles and manage/track department deliverables aligned to those goals
Leading initiatives for improvement of Global Supply Chain performance through identification and development of critical metrics, processes, tools, and technology in alignment with strategic development plans and performance goals
Champion and drive culture of Operational Excellence in the function, deployment of lean methodologies to continuously improve operations, realize operational productivity/efficiency, expand/grow our supply chain, and enabling fast response to changes in the cell therapy landscape.
Continually striving to improve business processes to make work easier for people within the function, including, for example, leading the leadership team in a review of operating model effectiveness.
Collaborate with the leadership team through overseeing effective weekly operational focused tier/huddle meetings (functional leadership team check-ins and tactical actions on key operational metrics)
Acting as the Chief of Staff for the VP of Global Supply Chain:
Seek to understand and championing the strategic vision of the Global Supply Chain organization and how it can influence and enable Kite’s mission.
Understand key drivers and elements for excellence in supply chain performance and use that knowledge to effectively shape and facilitate leadership team meeting and offsite agendas, develop and lead all staff (town hall) meetings/events, as well as drive follow-up actions/communications.
Preparing presentation materials, and communications for the VP of Global Supply Chain for internal and external audiences.
Managing Global Supply Chain related processes owned by Finance (budgeting and functional resource planning), HR (talent management), Facilities & Engineering (business continuity), and others.
Find fun and meaningful ways to build teamwork and strengthen our Global Supply Chain culture.
Facilitating Communications and Resource Allocation across the entire Supply Chain Organization by:
Actively managing and ensuring leadership team is aware of the top internal and external risks across the supply chain as they evolve and ensuring the supply chain functions are delivering on mitigation activity that reduces the risk level and/or increases risk monitoring capability for specific risks.
Leading deployment of advanced data science and analytical tools and capability that support transformation across the Supply Chain organization as well as the ability for leaders to unlocks insights and leverage data for effective and timely decision making
Overseeing the intake and execution of cross-functional projects including project prioritization, portfolio management, resource management, and change management including leadership reviews of project status and portfolio health.
Managing/Leading projects or programs of high strategic importance in the function.
Basic Qualifications:
PhD degree with 12+ years of experience within cGMP Supply Chain and/or Operations in a biopharmaceutical, cell therapy, or other highly regulated industry
OR
MA / MS degree with 12+ years of experience within cGMP Supply Chain and/or Operations in a biopharmaceutical, cell therapy, or other highly regulated industry
OR
BS / BA degree with 14+ years of experience within cGMP Supply Chain and/or Operations in a biopharmaceutical, cell therapy, or other highly regulated industry
OR
High School Degree with 18+ years of experience within cGMP Supply Chain and/or Operations in a biopharmaceutical, cell therapy, or other highly regulated industry
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong track record of strategic work experience across a variety of settings and topics in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry
Strong experience in program and operational management including communicating across the organization to align on shared goals, identifying options and facilitating decisions to enable programs to move forward, resourcing and managing teams to meet goals and deliverables
Proven ability to effectively manage complex and ambiguous projects, influence stakeholders without direct authority, effectively network across the organization and communicate with senior leaders all within a very dynamic, fast paced environment
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, influencing and leadership skills will be essential
Ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management through exceptional verbal and written communication skill
Exemplifies a Lean/continuous improvement mindset to drives tangible operational improvements
Experience with data analytics development lifecycle and methodology to ensure strong, accurate, and reliable analytical tools and dashboards
Strong people leader with an excellent ability to motivate, coach, develop and recruit others under their direct or indirect management
Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information
Be comfortable and efficient in a demanding, fast-paced, dynamic, often fluid environment.
