Job Description
The Director of U.S. Commercial Learning and Development serves as the training and development subject matter expert for the US Commercial organization. The individual will be responsible for assessing training needs across all customer-facing roles and aligning training plans to organizational objectives. Guiding a team of training and commercial excellence professionals, this individual will be accountable for the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive training and capability shaping programs to support competitive selling, strategic account management, disease area knowledge, access & reimbursement, and patient services. This individual will play a critical role in the implementation of key training initiatives to support the professional development and growth of our customer facing teams. Reporting into the Head of US Commercial Insights, Analytics, and Operations, this role can be based at Kite’s headquarters in Santa Monica, CA or at our Foster City location, with relocation provided exclusively to Santa Monica. This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week in office required.
Key Responsibilities of Director of U.S. Commercial Learning and Development includes:
Reimagine the commercial training portfolio to meet the needs of the modern learner, ensuring that all learning products are relevant, accessible, scalable, individualized, and designed in accordance with adult learning models
Partner with the Marketing and Market Access teams to build training initiatives that support the execution of tactics aligned with strategic imperatives and coordinate the rollout of promotional materials
Develop and execute Commercial Excellence roadmap in partnership with US Commercial teams to drive business process improvements and capability building across field teams
Maintain subject matter expertise for disease states, products and therapeutic areas aligned with Kite’s portfolio and account management strategy
Coordinate with Regulatory, Legal, and Medical for the review and approval of new training material
Ensure all new customer facing employees and leaders are onboarded effectively and quickly to accelerate their ramp times and minimize time to productivity
Collaborate effectively across a broad spectrum of stakeholders to optimize L&D operations including, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Quality, Supply Chain Logistics, Kite Konnect, Sales Analytics
Evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives and drive continuous improvement through data analysis, feedback, and measurable outcomes
Design and implement training programs for national meetings, regional meetings, new product launches, and sales leadership training
Manage vendors and budgets to ensure training programs are delivered on-time and on budget
Oversee the functionality and utilization of the learning management system
Maintain the standards for training materials including learning system modules
Lead and develop a high-performing, innovative and collaborative team with an emphasis on talent growth, engagement, and recognition
Requires up to 50% travel
Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate and 8+ years of experience
OR
Master’s Degree and 10+ years of experience
OR
Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of experience
OR
Associate Degree and 14+ years of experience
OR
High School Diploma/GED and 16+ years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
BA Degree with MA Degree highly preferred
10+ years of related bio/pharma experience
Experience in the hematology therapeutic area highly preferred
Management experience preferred
Familiarity with regulatory compliance and quality training specific to the biotech industry
High level of initiative and desire to work in a dynamic, exciting work environment
Exceptional presentation, facilitation and written communication skills
Ability to work cross-functionally in a results-oriented manner
Travel for training initiatives, meetings and project management skills
Deep clinical background with ability to translate clinical data for functional application
Expertise with technology platforms (e.g., iPad, LMS, Vault) and programs (e.g., MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Professional) is highly desirable
