Job Description

Gilead is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that is committed to discover, develop and commercialize innovative therapeutics in the areas of unmet medical needs. Oncology is one of our key therapeutic areas for future growth.

The Brazil Market Access team is expanding with a new and exciting opportunity for an Oncology Market Access Lead. This position will be primarily office based at the Sao Paulo office and report to the Director, Market Access and Reimbursement.

Responsibility covered by this role include development and execution of pricing & reimbursement strategies, developing compelling value proposition, including clinical and economic argumentation for payers. Furthermore, this role will work in close alignment with the cross functional teams at Gilead and have an important role in interacting with key external stakeholders (e.g. authorities and payers).

The flexibly of the organization and evolving product portfolio of Gilead also entails that the scope of this role could evolve and broaden in the future to provide further development opportunities.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Lead the market access, reimbursement and hospital access strategies for the new Oncology therapeutic area in collaboration with external and internal partners

  • Engage and leverage network with payers and other relevant market access stakeholders

  • Work together with the key account team to develop compelling value propositions and appropriate tools that enable access solutions which result in outcomes benefiting patients and Gilead

  • Drive the implementation of access strategies, understanding the different payer archetypes and regional needs and addressing their specificities

  • Support the establishment of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the access strategies

  • Establish working relationships with all relevant functions across Gilead, providing strategic inputs for the development of the overall brand strategy and delivery of robust plan of action for all cross-functional stakeholders

  • Support development of account plans with Gilead teams to maximize and ensure access for Gilead products

  • Lead and implement pricing strategies and initiatives in alignment with local procedures and consistent with the global pricing strategy

  • Highlight the cross-functional impacts of anticipated changes in the payer environment to the brand team in order to further enrich the Brand Team’s anticipation of the future

  • Identify opportunities and collaborate cross-functionally to engage in “win:win” partnerships with traditional and non-traditional stakeholders in order to positively influence product access

  • Have accountability over the oncology market access budget, always seeking the best investment-result ratio for the proposed initiatives

  • Ensure all activities are compliant with Business Conduct Manual for the local affiliate but also external guidance and policies which are pertinent to somebody working in this role

Ideally, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • Robust and demonstrable experience in developing, implementing and delivery of market access and health economic strategies and materials

  • Solid understanding of Market Access processes and payer needs and strategies at national, regional and local level

  • Affinity and solid understanding of pricing dynamics that impact the Gilead portfolio, and drive to raise the bar on current practices

  • Demonstrates accountability, a mindset that works through uncertainty, delivers to expectations and exhibits a sense of urgency on critical time-dependent issues

  • Capability to network, build strong and credible relationships with internal colleagues and payer stakeholders

  • Strong teamwork and facilitation, effective working in matrix environment and managing cross functional responsibilities

  • Driven & proactive with strong analytical skills to lead Oncology access initiatives

  • Flexibility and growth mindset to take on new challenges within the Market Access team

Specific education and experience requirements

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Market Access, ideally with a proven record of gaining broader access for new medication

  • Excellent communications skills in Portuguese and English (oral and written) to be able to present recommendations at affiliate leadership and above country level

  • Competent experience of using Microsoft Office products is required

  • Previous experience in working on oncology products will be preferred

  • Previous experience in access field-based positions will be a differential
