Gilead has declared Hematology-Oncology as one of the key therapeutic areas for future growth. Gilead is growing its pipeline in immune-oncology through internal research, partnerships and acquisitions. We have an exciting opportunity to join the team for breast cancer in Gilead Sciences, Poland.

This is a field-based Customer Facing Medical Manager position CFMM, with local responsibilities. Working as part of an experienced team with other Medical Affairs colleagues, your focus will be on scientific exchange with specialist hospital staff working in the field of metastatic triple negative breast cancer initially, and as more data emerges further indications in breast cancer and other solid tumors.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Ensure that all activities and interactions are conducted with due regard to all applicable local, globaland national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, Company policies and acceptedstandards of best practice.

  • The MS works with external experts to deliver disease focused medical education and facilitate theappropriate exchange of scientific information.

  • Identify and establishes strong relationships with opinion leaders, clinical investigators and providersin academic and non-academic settings.

  • Provide scientific and technical leadership to ensure professional and credible relationships withthought leaders and external experts of strategic importance.

  • Identifies and engages regional and national experts as speakers through personal contacts and on-site visits.

  • Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence for Gilead in key academic centres by facilitation of research and educational initiatives, while supporting requests for medical and scientific informationon products or areas of therapeutic interest to Gilead.

  • Serve as the key liaison for all aspects of investigator sponsored research and grant requests inoncology.

  • In partnership with clinical operations, support trial awareness, enrollment, and identification ofpotential sites/investigators for clinical trial participation.

  • Anticipates obstacles and difficulties that may arise in the field and resolves them in a collaborativemanner.

  • The MS works collaboratively with Gilead personnel in Sales, Regional Market Access, Marketing,Clinical Research, Global Safety and Medical Communication.

  • Others both from within and outside Gilead seek the MS out for expert advice and collaboration.

  • Utilizes scientific resources to deliver credible and impactful presentations presentations on scientificmatters to physicians, individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.)

  • Serve as a point of contact within the Medical Affairs team for thought leaders and external expertswithin an assigned geographic area in order to satisfy their needs for scientific knowledge in atherapeutic area and, when requested, relevant Gilead medicines, to support their safe, effective and appropriate use.

  • Participate and support advisory boards and steering committees.

  • Facilitate medical and scientific field intelligence – for example, competitor research and medicalstrategies, educational activities, structure and function.

  • Lead and/or participate on committee/project teams which support MS strategies as delegated by MSleadership.

  • Gain feedback through field interactions with HCPs to uncover collaboration opportunities and paircustomer’s unmet needs with available internal resources.

  • The MS involves extensive travel including appointments and meetings across his/her territory, aswell as national and international conferences and meetings in the affiliate office on a regular basis.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • The candidate must have a strong scientific background with a medical, biology or pharmacy degree, or a higher (e.g. MSc or PhD) degree.

  • The candidate must have experience in Medical department at the position of Medical scientist or Medical Advisor.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Good knowledge of the management of solid tumours (ideally breast cancer) is required.

  • Previous Medical Scientific Liaison experience is ideal, but a candidate with a good working knowledge of clinical aspects of solid tumour oncology would be considered.

  • Clinical experience beneficial.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills as well proactivity and personal initiative are key attributes as is a willingness to take ownership of and deliver specific projects when asked.

  • Ability to excel in dynamic settings with short timelines and effectively multi-task and thrive in a high pressure fast paced environment.

  • Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with influential thought leaders.

  • Valid and clean driver's license.

  • Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functionally and with partners outside of team to enable higher performance.
