Job Description

For over 30 years, Gilead has been a leading innovator in treating and preventing HIV, but this expertise is just a foundation for our ambitions. We are redesigning our processes with a focus on simplification and user experience. The position of Director, GPO Systems & Insights Solution Excellence & User Experience is critical to drive the constant enhancement of Gilead’s Procurement function. Specifically, this position will be responsible for helping to lead the delivery of programs and projects associated with Gilead’s multi-year functional transformation – with an initial primary focus of championing implementation and success of the Global Buying Experience Program as well as improving overall user experience through process and solution excellence. This includes aligning project plan efforts, driving organizational readiness, change readiness and impact assessments, stakeholder and employee engagement, large-scale training, organizational performance analysis, and communication programs. This position will also be responsible for working closely with cross-functional stakeholders globally including Finance, Controllership, R&D, Commercial, IT, etc. and lead the various regions through change.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Solutions Excellence: Drive digital and technology transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency, transparency and cost-effectiveness. Identify and implement innovative technology solutions, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and automation, to streamline buying processes. Develop and implement the multi-year digital roadmap for Global Procurement. Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure seamless technology adoption and alignment with business objectives.

  • Technology Integration & Operations: Oversee the integration and optimization of technology platforms, including ERP systems, procurement solutions and digital tools.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with, and act as a strategic partner for leadership and operational teams to manage the overall execution of one or more programs and projects to meet goals and targeted results, applying leading change, risk and resource management practices. Responsible for growing business partnerships and influencing senior management across the broader Company.

  • Project and Organizational Change Management: Advance general departmental project management and change leadership & management discipline – including activity timelines, resource management, budgeting, and reporting. Responsible for guiding stakeholder mapping, change readiness and impact assessment, in coordination with key P&L owners and Procurement Leadership Team.

  • Process Design and Continuous Improvement: Responsible for continuous improvements to performance metrics, programs/processes, and innovations to achieve higher levels of business impact. Responsible for end-to-end buying process improvement initiatives, which may include developing and executing strategies, change management and objectives to streamline processes and maximize efficiency. Performing process redesign including ‘quick win’ programs, process policy changes, and redesigning processes in support of technology programs

  • Supplier Excellence: Support the design and deployment of end-to-end supplier lifecycle processes including supplier risk assessment and onboarding, ongoing due diligence, and supplier offboarding. Identify solutions to aide in the execution of supplier programs (i.e. enablement, relationship management, on-boarding, etc.) programs.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience - preferably with 3+ years in a program or change management role and 7+ years of source-to-pay experience

  • An exceptional track record of applying procurement principles, concepts, best practices, and standards, along with in-depth knowledge of industry practices is required.

  • In-depth knowledge of procurement technology platforms, including ERP systems, e-procurement solutions and digital tools. Ability to manage technology integration projects, troubleshoot issues, and ensure alignment with business needs.

  • A track record of success leading and participating in cross-functional reengineering or process improvement efforts; including experience creating process diagrams, analyzing workflows, developing standard operating procedures, and reengineering business processes.

  • Superior communication, presentation and change leadership & management skills are required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma and Lean principles preferred.

  • Exceptional experience working with and supporting multiple projects and teams simultaneously across a matrixed organization.

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supplier lifecycle processes including supplier risk assessment and onboarding, ongoing due diligence, and supplier offboarding

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher; MBA preferred.

The salary range for this position is: $210,375.00 - $272,250.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
