Job Description
Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. As an Associate Director, Commercial Learning & Development - Instructional & Experience Design, you are responsible for developing and execution of the Global Instructional & Experience Design strategy for Global Commercial Learning and Development Curriculum and Training Programs, including the creation and maintenance of tools and resources to manage the Global Center of Excellence (CoE). You will oversee the management of Instructional/Curriculum Designers, vendors, and project plans and lead complex projects, influence stakeholders without authority and network across the organization, communicating effectively with leaders in a fast-moving, challenging, and dynamic commercial environment. Essential Duties & Functions
Global Instructional & Experience Design Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive end-to-end strategy to maximize the impact of all learning and development assets across the global commercial organization including applications, tools, technology, and resources.
Curriculum Development & Maintenance: Direct the creation and maintenance of global commercial training programs, including curricula for Global stakeholders.
Team & Vendor Management: Lead and mentor a team of Instructional/Curriculum Designers to deliver high-quality, innovative, and effective learning solutions.
Stakeholder & Project Management: Serve as a trusted advisor to effectively influence and collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior leaders, to ensure learning initiatives meet commercial and strategic goals.
Innovative Learning Solutions: Stay informed on industry trends and integrate advancements in instructional design technology and tools to drive innovative solutions that positively impact the learner experience and business outcomes.
Cross-functional Networking: Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships to ensure seamless integration of learning programs within the broader commercial strategy.
Continuous Improvement & Metrics: Partner with the Learning Effectiveness team to implement feedback loops and assessment tools to continuously improve the effectiveness of training programs.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and Ten Years’ Experience
OR
Master’s Degree and Eight Years’ Experience
OR
Ph.D. and Two Years’ Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
With a bachelor’s degree at least 10 years’ of experience in the biopharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry with increasing responsibilities
Experience working in a global environment with an enhanced understanding of curriculum design contextualization based on culture, language and local context
At least 2 years of relevant experience in developing and designing instructional programs and learner experiences through application of Learning Strategy, Adult Learning Principles, and curriculum design and deployment.
Demonstrated expertise in negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to tackle complex and ambiguous problems.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, negotiate, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among culturally and professionally diverse individuals.
Effective communication skills, with experience presenting to executive teams and driving collaborative problem-solving.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, motivate a team, and deliver high-impact results.
Strong project management, change management, and program management skills, with experience handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience across global markets (e.g., US, EU, Japan, China).
Anti-Viral and/or Oncology experience.

The salary range for this position is: $191,335.00 - $247,610.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
