We have an exciting opportunity on our Medical Affairs Team, an Associate Director position within Global Medical Affairs Oncology. This individual will focus on strategy and operations.  They will support the design and execution of strategies and tactics to bring meaningful treatment to patients with cancer.  This position will report directly to the VP, of Global Medical Affairs Oncology. Currently, the role is an individual contributor. However, the individual selected for this role will be expected to develop a team.

This role will be based in Foster City, CA.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed work plans on key GMA Oncology initiatives which include identification of project tasks, clear milestones, and assignments of work project responsibilities, schedules, plans, resources, budget, and status reports.

  • Curate topical discussions for team meetings and drive actions / follow-up process across Global Oncology Medical Affairs.

  • Demonstrate scientific understanding of relevant disease states, products, and guidelines to collaborate with global disease leads and country leads and support their medical strategic plans.

  • Serve as the GMA Oncology point of contact with GMA Strategic, Operations and countries to coordinate global implementation of medical strategies, key performance indicators, insights, technology, pipeline / launch planning and Plan of Action (POA).

  • Utilize data analytics to uncover areas of opportunities to enhance performance, efficiency and project management, tracking productivity and operational excellence of strategic initiatives with key performance Indicators (KPI).

  • Work closely with Human Resources Business Partner, Commercial, Government Affairs and Public Affairs to partner on communications strategy and preparation/content of business presentations.

Required Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Advanced scientific degree and relevant experience in Oncology required (i.e., M.D, PharmD, or Ph.D.).  

  • Extensive years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with relevant roles in medical affairs

  • Ability to manage people in other countries in various time zones and demonstrated cultural intelligence to work in an international setting

  • Excellent organizational skills, including attention to detail and prioritization

  • Work independently with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain scientific knowledge and credibility to effectively communicate and discuss scientific information with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Highly resourceful and strategic thinker with strong emotional intelligence, operational rigor and project management capabilities, able to directly lead or drive global projects

  • Experience driving large initiatives from framing the problem, conducting research / analysis to building the business and operational plans

  • Comfort in business and technical discussions, ability to interface with Finance team and manage budget across the TA

  • An experienced agile professional with growing responsibility through-out their career

  • Matrix management experience with broad exposure to multiple functions

  • Willingness to travel as needed (up to 20%)
