Job Description
Essential Duties and Job Functions
• Responsible for achieving coverage and frequency targets and consistently achieving sales targets in assigned territory.
• Represents Gilead’s products and services to a defined customer base (oncologists) within a specific geographic area.
• Utilizes a level of product and therapeutic disease working knowledge to promote the appropriate use of Gilead products to healthcare professionals.
• Prepares business plan for own territory, assigns targets and communicates required actions to achieve goals.
• Establishes strong relationships with opinion leaders.
• Works in collaboration with other health care professionals to make Gilead’s products and services well-known.
• With guidance, initiates systems to monitor sales progress and action plans. Prepares territory budgets for customer contacts, unrestricted educational grants, speaker events and other miscellaneous external expenditures.
• Works as an individual contributor.
• Builds and extends business relationships with key customers or accounts.
• Assists in the identification and resolution of issues and opportunities and communicates proactively to marketing and sales management.
• Completes necessary administrative tasks in a timely manner e.g. updating customer database, expenses, etc.
• Responsible for achieving the competency levels required in the role.
• May take over additional responsibilities for marketing support or market access relevant negotiations dependent on previous work experiences and requirements of the SK business
Actively monitor competitor activities – based on publicly available data
• Compliance with all regulatory agencies, state, and federal law is required.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills Search
• Typically requires a BA or BS degree in biological science and minimum of 4 – 6 years of relevant selling experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
• Prior experience in appropriate therapeutic area highly desired.
• Previous experience in innovative companies will be a plus
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with a general level of autonomy and independence.
• Previous pharmaceutical experience is essential and relevant therapeutic working knowledge is desirable.
• Proven expertise in interpersonal and relationship building skills is required.
• Works as an individual contributor. Full accountability for own activities and local execution according with plans
• A “Can do” attitude. Apply energy and sense of urgency to get things done
• Very good social skills, with the ability to form and maintain strong professional relationships.
• Ability to prioritize and focus on the few matters which makes a difference
• Ability to understand and communicate scientific content
• Documented tract record in marketing, sales or medical/science
• Ambitious
• Proactive work style anticipates obstacles and difficulties that may arise in the field and finds solutions for them in a collaborative manner.
• Analytical, with the ability to utilize scientific and marketing resources to respond to local needs, in line with Gilead’s overall strategy.
