We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Director, HEOR. This position will provide coverage of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) questions and build relationships with public and private payers, and market access influencers to support patient access. This remote position will entail coordination with the US market access team on payer tool development, HEOR presentations to US payers and providers, answering HEOR-related questions for the US market access team, and study leadership and execution. This position will also be responsible for collecting payer/market access insights and using them to guide the development of HEOR strategies and their tactical execution for the US, collaborating closely with the US and global teams to ensure efficient execution and alignment.
Responsibilities:
Works with the US market access team to facilitate the development of payer tools and communication materials, to communicate HEOR findings into insights that can be understood by a payer audience, to translate payer questions and needs into HEOR research questions, and to answer HEOR-related questions for the US market access team
Works closely with the US market access team to educate payers, managed markets, and market access influencers on HEOR concepts important for patient access
Engage in sophisticated value conversations with payer decision makers who require expertise in health economics, outcomes research, real-world evidence generation, and value assessment
Generates evidence to establish the clinical, economic, and patient centered value propositions related to our cell therapies for the US market
Leads and contributes to studies including systematic literature reviews, meta-analysis, indirect treatment comparisons, observational research studies including claims data, PRO studies, cost-effectiveness and budget impact models, and other studies to support evidence generation for value proposition and core value dossier
Manages budgets and timelines for vendor activities in support of our evidence generation activities
Interfaces with cross-functional partners in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Legal/Compliance, and Commercial in the development of US HEOR strategy and evidence generation
Represents Kite for HEOR-related activities at external professional, scientific meetings, and forums
Collaborates with internal and external experts in the execution of studies and implementation of field-based, customer-focused initiatives (e.g., models, scientific communications, slide kits, formulary/regulatory dossiers)
Provides internal training on HEOR methodologies and data results to key internal colleagues
Works closely with scientific communications, publications and other home office and field colleagues to ensure scientific conference material is appropriate, relevant, and accurate
Up to 50% customer facing, including travel for payer engagements
Basic Qualifications:
Advanced scientific degree (i.e., MD, PharmD, PhD) and 8+ years of experience OR
Master’s Degree and 10+ years of experience OR
Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of experience OR
High School Degree and 16+ years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in the life sciences (PharmD, PhD, MD) or dual degree in a scientific field; will also consider a MS in an outcomes-related field (e.g., Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Economics, and Pharmacy Administration), a PharmD with HEOR-related education and/or Fellowship experience, or an MPH/MS
8+ years’ experience in the industry, specifically in health economics and outcomes research
Strong payer relationships within national and regional accounts are a plus
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Ability in cross functional teams in fast pace, dynamic team setting
Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment
Experience in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical or health-care industry
Knowledge and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory policies
Strong technical reading, writing and communication skills
Presentation and strong research experience with market access customers
Prior corporate experience in hematology/oncology therapeutic area is highly preferred
Superior written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in communicating clinical technical information to varied internal and customer audiences
Strong presentation and leadership skills
Experienced in influencing strategy with internal and external customer audiences
High level strategic thinking, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
Significant knowledge of US Market Access environment
Strong research design, modeling, and analytic skills
Demonstrated ability in executing HEOR (collaborative) studies for field-related activities with proven ability to anticipate key customers’ needs with sufficient lead time for execution of tactical plans
Experience in analyzing claims databases and EMRs to assess the burden of disease
Experience with clinical/outcomes research applied to retrospective and prospective HEOR research
Refined methodological, quantitative, and analytical skills
Strong track record in HEOR study methodology, statistics, data reporting and resource development
Demonstrated ability to manage a large number of complex projects
Highly motivated to function proactively, operate with a sense of urgency, bring tasks to completion
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a key contributor to multi-departmental teams simultaneously
