We are seeking a highly motivated Sr Research Associate to join Kite’s research team. Specifically, you will be part of our Research Preclinical Process Development and Cell Processing Team at our Emeryville site. This team is responsible for developing stage-appropriate T cell therapy bioprocesses and collaborating with Research pipeline teams and lead technology transfer into late stage. You will play a key role in advancing our CAR pipeline and contributing to develop next generation cell therapies as you support our efforts in this exciting new area of cancer immunotherapy. The successful candidate will be expected to perform experiments, organize and analyze results, and communicate and present findings in team meetings. You will also be asked to perform other duties. This role will be a hands-on resource supporting pipeline activities.
Responsibilities
- You will play a key role in advancing our CAR pipeline and contributing to develop next generation cell therapies as you support our efforts in this exciting new area of cancer immunotherapy
- You will primarily focus on automated and closed system of leukopak processing, healthy donor derived T cell banking, and healthy donor derived T cell characterizations
- Participate in T cell Processing team and collaborate cross functionally with Process Development teams to deliver engineered T cell bioprocesses in a phase appropriate manner
- Drive innovation and contribute to technology development
- Communicate plans and results in both oral and written form
- Coordination of tasks across multiple projects, demonstrating prioritization and planning, managing timelines and deliverables.
- Execute and interpret experiments in line with project timelines and goals
- Maintaining critical equipment and ensuring lab is appropriately stocked with consumables
- Temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description
- Record keeping
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s Degree OR
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of scientific experience OR
- AA Degree and 4+ years of scientific experience OR
- High School Degree and 5+ years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experiences with CliniMACS Prodigy and current bioreactor technologies
- Excellent cell culture and sterile techniques
- Previous experience with primary cells, especially T cells
- Experience in running and analyzing multi-color flow cytometry experiments
- Self-motivated, creative, and highly adept at working both independently and within a highly dynamic team environment
- Comfortable in a fast-paced company and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
- Strong organizational skills and record keeping
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in a collaborative work environment
- Immunology and/or immunotherapy background
- Proficiency in the use of software to support data analysis such as FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
