Reporting to Senior Principal Scientist, Attribute Sciences Biophysical Characterization, the Research Scientist will be responsible for developing and utilizing mass spectrometry technologies to assess product quality attributes that help guide process development and product knowledge of viral vector-based gene delivery platforms and T cell therapies.
In this role, the ideal candidate will display a deep understanding of current mass spectrometry and proteomics techniques and have proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must be able to contribute to study design, manage experiments, perform data analysis and interpret results.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Design and execute mass spectrometry studies to assess viral vector and cell therapy final product attributes
Perform in house studies on biological samples, including characterization of host cell proteins, post-translational modifications, or measuring relative protein abundance
Analyze, interpret, and present data to cross-functional teams
Author, review, and edit technical documents such as SOPs and/or reports
Function independently in non-routine development activities and project goals
Maintain accurate documentation of experiments in ELN and reports
Work collaboratively with Cell and Vector Attribute Sciences teams to inform product characterization and product knowledge strategies to advance pipeline programs
Stay current with analytical technical platforms, cell and gene therapy industry best practices, as well as cutting edge innovations to support the development of viral vector and cell therapy products
Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, Molecular Biology or related discipline OR
Masters' Degree and 4+ years experience; OR
Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years experience; OR
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive hands-on experience on the use of mass spectrometry for proteomics applications
Experience operating and analyzing data from multiple mass spectrometry platforms is a plus.
Proficiency in interpreting and performing statistical analysis on large proteomics datasets
Ability to think critically and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Highly collaborative with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description
Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
