Director, IT – Commercial BRM Portfolio Delivery (US)

Location: Santa Monica, CA

The ‘Director, IT – Commercial’ is accountable for partnering with a range of stakeholders across Kite’s US region, as well as offices in Santa Monica (CA), Foster City (CA) and London (UK). You will deliver value led business outcomes; delivering industry leading technologies to enable Kite Patient Services, Field Force Effectiveness, Digital Marketing and Commercial Analytics capabilities.

You will possess thorough Commercial Life Sciences domain knowledge, proven IT Leadership and People Management experience and demonstrate credibility as IT advocate for ‘Voice of the Customer’.

This is a varied IT leadership role that requires you to: Implement a portfolio of Commercial technology initiatives, lead a team of IT analysts and technical delivery teams, influence technology roadmaps and strategies, and ensure extensive IT performance management and governance through the full software delivery lifecycle.

The Team

Based at Kite’s Global HQ in Santa Monica, CA. You will be the lead IT Business Relationship Manager (BRM) and Portfolio Delivery lead for Kite US, and a senior leader in Kite’s Commercial IT team. This role reports to the Global Head of Commercial IT.

Your Responsibilities

This will be a varied and evolving role as Kite’s operation scales. Core team responsibilities include:

Business Engagement Portfolio Management: Maintain a ‘trusted advisor’ relationship with key stakeholders in the US – from Executive Director to Analyst. Leverage relationships to maintain a strategically aligned and prioritized portfolio of business demand.

Portfolio Delivery: Lead delivery of aligned US IT portfolio of programs, projects, and initiatives. Improve business value and embed extensive governance and consistently follow through to scope, cost and time targets.

Business Analysis: Manage and support a range of BA related disciplines – including Workshop Facilitation, Requirements Elicitation (functional and technical), IT Backlog Mgt, Test Case definition, etc.

System Administration: IT ownership of business-critical commercial platforms including: Veeva (CRM, Vault), Salesforce (Service Cloud, Community Cloud), AWS and Tableau – throughout the SDLC.

Service Delivery: Oversee and performance manage DevOps efforts for all Commercial IT services – often performed by strategic partners / 3rd party vendors. Deliver an outstanding level of service for internal and external (e.g. HCP) customers.

Thought Leadership Innovation: Support the commercial business functions in identification and value realization from innovative technology – e.g. Data Analytics, AI / ML, Digitization, Cloud, IoT etc. - to improve customer / patient experience, business performance and process efficiency or effectiveness.

Basic Qualifications

Advanced degree (Doctorate) and 8+ years Industry (Pharma/Biotech) experience within Information Technology OR

Master’s degree in IT or Business Information Systems and 10+ years of Industry (Pharma/Biotech) experience within Information Technology OR

Bachelor’s degree in IT or Business Information Systems and 12+ years of Industry (Pharma/Biotech) experience within Information Technology

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated motivation, business acumen, and technical delivery experience in a Commercial Biotech / Pharmaceutical organisation – Preferably with Cell / Gene therapy experience.

Experience in a variety of IT roles: Business Relationship Management, Business Analysis, Service Delivery, Solution Design / Architecture, IT Strategic Planning Portfolio Management.

Experience in People Management and Team Direction.

Experience with Veeva, Salesforce, Sitecore, Marketing Cloud, AWS, Tableau or equivalent BI tools.

Experience with Tier 1 ERP’s – Preferably Oracle EBS or SAP ERP.

Experience and knowledge of end-to-end IT Software Development Lifecycle; including Agile / DevOps.

Experience working for a Global organization - with headquarters in US and International operations.

Experience delivering IT solutions at market level and above market (e.g. US vs. Global)

Experience delivering IT solutions in a regulated industry – specifically GxP and APPI

Experience operating in a managed services delivery model based on business outcomes.

Experience managing the delivery and performance of 3rd party vendors – on-shore and off-shore (India).

Significant knowledge and understanding of the Commercial business and related functions in the Biotech industry: Field Force Effectiveness, Marketing, Patient Services, CRM, Master data management (MDM), Commercialization, Legal, Business Conduct, Quality etc.

Ability to direct IT projects, manage resource and influence outcomes in a matrix organisation.

Meaningful analytical, communication, time-management, facilitation, presentation, influencing and project/portfolio management skills.

Independent, self-motivated, proactive and responsive with a bias for action and results.

High level of personal integrity consistent with Kite and Gilead’s core values.

Occasional travel to international Kite / Gilead locations.
