We are seeking a Process Engineer I for the Technical and Operational Readiness Team to support our commercial biotechnology facility in El Segundo, CA. The primary focus of this role will be to support testing and implementation of new process and continuous improvement projects. The engineer will play a critical role in technology transfers and be part of a team responsible for owning, leading, and implementing on-site and global manufacturing projects to support commercial and clinical cell therapy products. This key role will ensure the success and continuous improvement of commercial manufacturing and product launches for cell therapy products.
 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Owner of change controls for process and procedural changes
  • Support and oversee equipment and systems validation activities
  • Oversee assessment and implementation of new technology on site
  • Impact assessor for proposed and upcoming changes to the manufacturing process/systems
  • Support technology transfer efforts for new process and product implementation between sites
  • Assist in developing a robust operational readiness lifecycle for equipment, material, and systems
  • Implement continuous design/process changes that are required by the business as a result of change controls and CAPAs
  • Site-level coordination of projects and operational readiness activities between other units such as Supply Chain, Quality, Facilities & Engineering, and Process Development

Basic Qualifications

  • MA/MS Degree in Biochemical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology with 2+ years of experience Or
  • AA Degree with 4+ years of experience in Biochemical Engineering or Chemical Engineering Or
  • High School Degree with 5+ years of experience in Biochemical Engineering or Chemical Engineering

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a regulated, cGMP environment
  • Possesses good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
  • Experience with change controls, investigations, and technical writing
  • Cell culture, cell/gene therapy and/or aseptic processing experience is desired
  • Experience with leading projects and/or working with cross functional teams to obtain project deliverables
  • *This Position qualifies for a $8,000 Sign-on Bonus, $4,000 payable within 30 days of start date and $4,000 payable following 6 months of continuous employment. Payments are subject to a 1-year repayment agreement from date of payment issue. Applies to external hires only.
