Job Description

Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. The Senior Manager, Customer Master Data Management, is responsible for overseeing the creation and maintenance of customer and contract setups within Model N and SAP and providing technical expertise and support for all MAO teams. This role ensures compliance with agreements involving Specialty Pharmacies, Government Contracts, Commercial Contracts, and Wholesalers/Distributors.

Work Location: in-office, Foster City, CA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end customer master and contract setup processes for indirect customers (in Model N) and direct customers (in SAP), including researching and recommending Class of Trade designations.

  • Perform regular data integrity and quality control checks, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Proactively identify and address potential issues or inefficiencies in customer and contract setups for indirect and direct channels.

  • Serve as primary Model N power user for MAO with the access and ability to do back-end activities (e.g., based on completing courses/materials within the Model N “Power User” library)

  • Interface with systems support and IT to address operational issues with SAP and Model N.

  • Provide guidance and expertise in use of Model N technology as it relates cross-functional platforms.

  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of the Model N application to optimize system configurations and thoroughly test changes that impact the system and pricing calculations.

  • Provide miscellaneous technical support (e.g., Model N troubleshooting; Kite data transformation process) for all MAO teams

  • Proactively pursue opportunities to implement process excellence through automation of processes and institution of industry best practices.

  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams (operations, IT, cross-functional partners) and senior leadership to resolve issues promptly.

  • Build strong relationships with external customers and vendors to ensure high service levels.

  • Support the development, implementation, and compliance of standardized departmental procedures, ensuring adherence to local laws and regulations.

  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relevant to pricing and contracts.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government program regulations, particularly in maintaining eligibility and Class of Trade designations.

  • Foster an inclusive work environment, encouraging open communication and psychological safety to allow diverse perspectives and ideas to be shared respectfully.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years Experience

OR

Master’s Degree and Six Years Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, along with a Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in a related field.

  • Experience operationalizing complex contract designs within systems of record (e.g., Model N).

  • In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical order processes and customer service best practices.

  • Knowledge of Government (340B/FSS) and Commercial programs, as well as applicable regulations, ensuring compliance with government and commercial pricing programs that impact contract management and claims processing.

  • Proven ability to resolve complex or escalated issues effectively.

  • Ability to identify, analyze, and provide solutions for business opportunities or challenges.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal), with a strong focus on time management, follow-through, and issue resolution.

  • Critical thinking and strong analytical skills required.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Proficiency in Tableau, Model N, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Experience with utilization-based claim processing in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is a plus, but not required.

The salary range for this position is: $154,020.00 - $199,320.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
