Job Description

Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. As a Director, HIV Portfolio Strategy and Pipeline, you will lead various strategic projects and workstreams across the HIV Business Unit, reporting to the Sr. Director of Strategy and Operations.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep marketing experience in a portfolio setting

  • Understanding of Gilead’s HIV portfolio, including inline and pipeline products and and clinical development in general

Specific job responsibilities:

  • Lead critical projects relating to strategic priorities of the HIV business unit that have broad portfolio impact e.g., support the long-range planning process. Drive a pipeline positioning with a portfolio approach creating a shared understanding of how our future assets will fit into our growing portfolio. 
  • Represent the HIV Business Unit (BU) on cross-functional strategic projects and be the single point of contact for the US Managed Markets Team, provide them with our consolidated commercial perspective and ensure our field-based teams are appropriately and timely informed on relevant Managed Markets news.
  • Represent the US organization on global pipeline planning, providing a single point of contact to the program strategy team (PST) and Global Strategic Marketing (GSM) for all HIV development programs except for L4P which is led by the launch team. Lead the gathering of all cross-functional pipeline US input, prepare the joint recommendation for decision making by the US senior management and communicate back to the PST/ GSM. Keep line of sight to upcoming PC decisions in Gilead’s  Ecosystem and ensure the relevant data and insights are created in time for decision making
  • Provide thought leadership and advocate for strategic initiatives and develop work products (models, frameworks, presentations, recommendations, thought pieces, etc.) for leadership team consideration, evaluation and decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain detailed work plans on all key initiatives, including project tasks, clear milestones, and assignments of work project responsibilities, schedules, plans, and status reports
  • Foster cross-BU collaboration and collective accountability by:
    • Providing continuous development of BU governance (i.e., what forums need to exist to support efficient and effective decision making, how each forum is utilized, and who leads each forum)
    • Leading the new cross-functional brand and tactical planning process across the HIV BU to ensure pull-through of the medical commercial collaboration intent and provide strategic and operational guidance to brand teams
    • Proactively engaging with cross-functional stakeholders to identify interdependencies, resolve issues, and champion strategic initiatives
    • Seeking ways and developing processes to enhance communication across the HIV Marketing Teams including best practice sharing
    • Collaborating with the leadership team on marketing training & development programs
  • Support the preparation for critical internal meetings and ad hoc projects as needed

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Ten Years’ Experience

OR

PhD and Eight Years’ Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

·Masters, MBA degree, preferably in life sciences, business administration, or equivalent.

·10+ years of commercial experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry (preferably in specialty pharmaceuticals)

The salary range for this position is: $221,170.00 - $286,220.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
