POSITION OVERVIEW:
The FP&A job family and team are part of the overall Gilead Finance function. FP&A is responsible for the strategic, efficient, and optimal analysis, planning, and financial oversight of profit and loss across Gilead, including all corporate functions, worldwide country affiliates, and manufacturing sites. FP&A is comprised of financial partners and advisors for financial planning and analysis for all corporate business and functional units and all financial activities (including tax and other financial functions) across all affiliate countries and manufacturing sites. Across corporate, regional, country and manufacturing site activities, FP&A acts as the co-pilot with the business to make strategic decisions. FP&A delivers fast, accurate and accessible insights that help the business proactively seize and optimize business opportunities, while effectively managing risk. FP&A also drives process improvements to increase efficiency across Gilead corporate, regional, country and site operations.
This role will support one of Gilead’s G&A functions (CFO Org, Corporate Affairs & Legal, or HR). You will support more experienced FP&A colleagues with standard and ad hoc financial analyses and reporting, preparation of financial presentations, and compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports month end close/ reporting activities and variance analytics. Develops an in-depth understanding of key business drivers to incorporate into monthly commentaries.
Supports the coordination and delivery of accurate and timely monthly/quarterly business reporting packages. Presents financial results to business partners.
Supports the annual budgeting and forecasting planning process for the assigned functional area(s) for operating expense/headcount/capital expenditure.
Develops a good understanding of key performance drivers and issues relating to budget and actual results, ensuring key issues, risks, and business drivers are understood and highlighted to management.
Supports ad hoc requests and ongoing analytics support to assist with tactical and strategic decision-making processes.
Supports development and implementation of key process improvement initiatives. Proactively engages with Finance colleagues and business partners to develop continuous process improvements to planning, analyses and reporting.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Ensures assigned work complies with established practices, policies, processes, and any regulatory or other requirements.

Minimum Education & Experience
4+ Years with BA/ BS or 2+ Years with MA/ MS / MBA required
BA/ BS or advanced degree in finance or a related field with some financial or related work experience in a corporate / business environment.
Experience in a multi-national / global business environment is preferred
Prior experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is preferred
Experience with project reporting, operational accounting and reporting is preferred
Knowledge & Other Requirements
Possesses sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and the role of FP&A as these pertain to business / corporate finance, including GAAP and other relevant financial standards and requirements
Familiar with financial software and has proficiencies in spreadsheet, workbook and database structures
Knowledge of or aptitude to learn regulatory requirements relevant to the biopharma industry
Demonstrates ability to perform standard / routine FP&A activities with increasing independence
Understands the general role and responsibilities of financial analysts in a business / corporate environment and is able to make recommendations to improve ways of working and/or outcomes
Demonstrates ability to accurately interpret basic to moderately complex financial data and share appropriate insights with others
Strong communication and organizational skills
