We are seeking a highly motivated leader with experience in cell therapy, medical device, or pharmaceutical cold chain leading Global Distribution center to join us as a Senior Director of Supply Chain – Global Supply Chain and Testing Warehouse / Distribution Center Lead. The Senior Director will be the site leader responsible for the overall strategic leadership of Kite’s global Distribution and testing center, amongst others leading operational warehouse and testing functions, infrastructure, and processes from receipt to release of Kite’s raw materials to be distributed to Kite’s manufacturing facilities within the Kite network.
This opportunity will be based out of Kite’s brand new, state-of-the-art commercial biotechnology facility in Frederick, MD.
Responsibilities of the Senior Director of Supply Chain – Global Supply Chain and Testing Warehouse / Distribution Center Lead include:
People Leadership:
• Lead and develop strong teams (cross functional) to meet delivery service level agreement to the multiple manufacturing facilities within the kite network.
• Lead the site stakeholders team (matrixed) ensuring high performance operation trough the People Leader Accountabilities.
• Select, guide, develop, and evaluate personnel to achieve both the employee’s professional, the organizations goals and Kite culture.
• Plans, coordinates, and guides the Distribution Center operations activities, including receiving, storing, packing, testing, releasing and shipping in a manner consistent with the Kite agreed service levels.
• Ensure sufficient staffing based on volume forecast and distribution center activities.
• Collaborates with key partners across the Kite Manufacturing network.
Process Leadership:
• Create strategic plans for warehousing, vendor relations and logistics based on evolving business requirements, market dynamics, best practices, and technical innovations.
• Develop the Distribution Center Operations team’s annual operating and capital budgets, while delivering annual productivity goals.
• Cultivate change through partnering with leaders across the organization, vendors, and suppliers to improve operations, services, and environmental impacts.
• Champion a Continuous Improvement culture within the Distribution Center Operations team and across the company.
• Oversees and maintains procedures to ensure inventory accuracy (cycle count/physical inventory checks).
• Maintain Operational KPIs for warehouse, receiving, test, storage, release and shipment activities.
• Manage warehouse management systems and perform reporting of receipts, inventory, capacity, issues, picks and shipments.
Equipment Leadership:
• Ensure warehouse equipment is maintained in proper shape, order, repair and maintenance.
• Ensure that an appropriate CAPEX budget is in place for extension and replacement of equipment and facility.
• Oversee usage and inventory of warehouse supply materials including but not limited to consumable materials (packing boxes, foam, tape, bubble wrap, etc.).
Compliance Leadership:
• Guide and maintain distribution center compliance not limited to licenses and permits related to storage, import/export and safety, participate necessary self-audits, take part of external and internal audits, take care of safety and security activities.
• Align and work with the Kite Quality teams to ensure adherence to the Kite Quality compliance requirements.
• Ensure GMP compliancy for all related warehouse processes (including, but not limited to Change control, Deviation management, SCAR management, training compliance, CAPA management etc.).
Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree with 10+ years’ experience with operations and/or GMP processes and/or supply chain and/or logistics and/or trade compliance
OR
MA / MS degree with 12+ years’ experience with operations and/or GMP processes and/or supply chain and/or logistics and/or trade compliance
OR
BS / BA degree with 14+ years’ experience with operations and/or GMP processes and/or supply chain and/or logistics and/or trade compliance
OR
Associates degree with 16+ years’ experience with operations and/or GMP processes and/or supply chain and/or logistics and/or trade compliance
OR
High School Degree with 18+ years’ experience with operations and/or GMP processes and/or supply chain and/or logistics and/or trade compliance
Preferred Qualifications:
• Deep understanding of scientific and engineering principles
• 10+ years of people and project direction
• Demonstrated achievement of leading, developing and managing staff and cross functional teams
• Experience developing and/or running warehouse operations
• Knowledge of SAP business system functionality
• Practical expertise with cGMP manufacturing and regulatory regulations and requirements for pharmaceuticals and devices
• Ability to think critically, and demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication
• Ability to function efficiently and independently in a changing environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing of biotechnology products, aseptic processing, cell therapy products and process development
• Previous experience with cell therapy products is a plus
• Equipment development and qualification experience in a cGMP environment (IQ, OQ, PQ) is preferred; process validation experience is a plus
• Knowledge of data management resources and statistical process controls
• Understanding and past deployment of principles and concepts of Lean Six Sigma to improve process capability is a plus
