The Role
The individual in this intern position will be responsible for the introduction of automated systems for clinical cell therapy manufacturing processes. Technologies in scope include automated systems for T-cell selection from patient or healthy donor apheresis, systems for in-vitro cell culture of CAR-T cells, and/or systems for formulation and cryopreservation of CAR-T cells.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Participation or facilitation of risk assessments and/or failure modes and effects analysis
Raw materials introduction, including single-use disposable components
Facility fit exercises to enable technology transfer from process development labs to clinical
Authoring and review of standard operating procedures and/or batch records
Assist in laboratory experiments for feasibility or proof of concept for automated systems
Configuration of electronic business systems and/or process data historians
Basic Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years or older
Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8
Must be currently enrolled in a full-time graduate degree program at an accredited university/college
Must have completed at least one year of study at an accredited university/college prior to internship commencing
Must be enrolled in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship - graduation date of December 2022 or Spring/Summer 2023
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without Kite sponsorship
Must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination prior to start of the internship
Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between June and September
Must be able to work remotely or relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in Graduate Degree with emphasis in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, Biopharmaceutical Processes, Biotechnology, or similar
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively/Ability to work in collaborate in cross functional teams in fast pace, dynamic team setting
Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment
Experience and/or interest in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical or health-care industry
Knowledge and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory policies
Experience with automated bioprocessing equipment
Experience with Werum PAS/X and/or OSI PI
