The Director, Business Strategy & Operations, International Region reports to the Vice President, International Region, and serves as a key business partner in driving the impact and effectiveness of the Kite organization through both strategic and operational leadership across Japan, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. In this role, you will work in close collaboration with enterprise-wide teams to achieve these goals. This position is based out of our Santa Monica, CA Headquarters, but a remote arrangement may be considered with regular travel.
Key Responsibilities
Driving business results and strategic initiatives through enterprise-wide coordination, operational rigor, tracking of commercial KPIs, cross-functional/leadership alignment, and partnership
Development of senior leadership presentations, lead across discovery, primary research, secondary research, insights generation, prioritization and confirmation of strategic direction
Leads operational teams, enterprise-wide to deliver strategic goals & can translate strategy into measurable tactics & deliver them to market
Identify opportunities to enhance productivity/efficiency while accelerating execution
Develop and maintain detailed work plans on key initiatives, including identifying project tasks, clear milestones, and assignments of work project responsibilities, schedules, plans, resources, and status reports
Acts as department lead for various corporate planning processes, such as the strategic planning process, financial planning, supply chain planning and commercial planning activities & can work seamlessly to deadline
Drive the development of functional goals and manage/track department deliverables aligned to those goals
Provide enterprise-wide strategy and execution support for cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of key marketing initiatives
Support capability-building efforts by identifying and championing innovative ideas from internal and external sources
Ensure VP has a comprehensive view of key considerations for prioritizing initiatives, internal & external events, and customer engagements while partnering to plan for them in alignment with the expected impact
Partner cross-functionally on internal & external communication strategies and preparation/content for impactful presentations including QCR/business updates, leadership meetings, project/initiative presentations, All-Hands presentations, follow-up communications, and online/social media communications
Represent the VP in key internal meetings, identifying key follow-up action items and next steps
Travel to customer/partner/employee meetings and events (up to 30%)
Basic Qualifications
Advanced scientific degree (i.e., MD, PharmD, PhD) and 8+ years of experience OR
Master’s Degree and 10+ years of experience OR
Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of experience OR
High School Degree and 16+ years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced scientific degree (i.e., MD, PharmD, PhD) or MBA
Experience in commercial, finance, or management consultancy
Self-starter with strong emotional intelligence, operational rigor, attention to detail, and project management capabilities who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative high-growth environment
Demonstrated capacity to flex between the big picture and small details
Proactive and highly resourceful strategic thinker with ability to lead and influence across functions to deliver complex business initiatives
Strong leadership and communication skills across functions and leadership teams. Comfort in business and technical discussions.
Strong track record of strategic work experience across a variety of settings and topics in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry
Proven ability to effectively manage sophisticated and ambiguous projects, influence stakeholders without authority, effectively network across the organization, and partner with leaders in a fast-paced environment
Experience driving large initiatives, including framing the problem and conducting research / analysis to build and drive the business and operational plans through successful execution
Comfort partnering with Finance partners to navigate and make recommendations on resourcing and various components of product P&Ls to support BU priorities
Strong enterprise thinking and approach
Experience working with teams in markets outside of the U.S. covered by the International Region, ideally supporting market expansion and/or product launches
Local language proficiency in one or more of the markets covered is a plus
