Job Description

As a Senior Director, Opinion Leader Programming- HIV Treatment at Gilead you will report directly to the Executive Director of Franchise Marketing for the HIV business unit.

In this role, you are expected to have an impact across the continuum of care of HIV Treatment, ultimately contributing to the ~$13B HIV BU driven by Biktarvy. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader who is an expert in insight generation and synthesis, driving KOL/account strategy and management for marketing while supporting the broader Gilead organization and upholding high execution standards, especially for key initiatives like speaker's bureau, advisory boards, conference debriefs and the opinion leader data base. Utilize strong leadership skills with the ability to set a vision, foster new thinking, manage change, uphold a compliance mindset, collaborate seamlessly with a diverse set of stakeholders (both internal and external), and lead and influence others. The Senior Director will be responsible for significant budget oversight and management of key agency partnerships. Additionally, they will partner closely across marketing and medical functions, various cross-functional stakeholders, and external vendors to implement OLP strategies and tactics.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Contribute to the long- and short-term US HIV treatment brand strategies and plan of action

  • Partner with PrEP OLP Team to ensure synergies across OL Engagement

  • Develop the OLP strategic and tactical plan

  • Provide strategic oversight and management of key initiatives and activities: speaker bureau, advisory boards, conference debriefs, OL mapping/database, account management, and OL generated content

  • Monitor the complete HIV Landscape and identify areas of opportunity to support brand strategies

  • Effectively translates scientific, clinical, epidemiological, and research insights into actionable commercial ideas and activities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, key accounts, and medical associations

  • Collaborates with the treatment, prevention, and franchise marketing teams, medical teams, and sales leadership to ensure a coordinated and appropriate approach to maximize effectiveness

  • Lead and/or serve as a key commercial member on cross-functional initiatives, often with high visibility within the organization

  • Provides innovative thinking, clear communication, and is effective in change management

  • Evaluate and evolve current approaches and systems (as needed)

  • Support navigating marketing materials through internal review processes to ensure projects comply with all regulatory and legal requirements

  • Establish appropriate procedures, systems, metrics, and infrastructures for the OLP team

  • Design and deliver presentations to a range of internal stakeholders and external audiences

  • Coach, develop, and manage direct reports

  • Manage multiple marketing cost centers and associated budgets

  • Identify and engage key agency partnerships to support OLP efforts

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years' Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Twelve Years' Experience

OR

PhD and Twelve Years' Experience

Background Knowledge and Skills:

  • A high performing marketing leader with the ability to set a vision and cultivate a high-performance culture and lead diverse teams

  • Strategic thinker who has a strong track record of tackling complex business problems and making recommendations while incorporating a diverse set of stakeholder input and feedback

  • Strong customer focus and adept at forming and maintaining a collaborative work environment with external OLs and key internal cross-functional partners (e.g., commercial, clinical development, medical affairs, regulatory, compliance, market research, etc.)

  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics

  • Listens carefully to others' points of view, adapts style and content based on audience, and seeks to understand others' motivations and needs

  • Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities

  • Ability to understand and communicate clinical data and high-level science

  • Drive consensus thinking and manage conflicts among individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines

  • Direct people management and experience managing highly cross-functional teams or workgroups are preferred

  • Track record of successful pharma/ biotech marketing in specialty categories

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and impact on developing marketing materials

The salary range for this position is: $261,375.00 - $338,250.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
