We are seeking an Associate Director, Corporate Development to join our Corporate Development Transaction Finance team, supporting strategic transactions across oncology, virology, inflammation, and cell therapy. This role will report to the Executive Director of Corporate Development (Head of Transaction Finance) and sit within the broader Corporate Development organization.
Responsibilities
Build financial models and conduct various quantitative analysis to evaluate a broad range of corporate development opportunities involving company acquisitions, strategic partnerships, licenses and investments across the capital structure
Partner with key stakeholders across therapeutic areas, including accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, R&D, commercial and legal to develop business and financial proposals that align with Gilead’s broader corporate strategy
Coordinate and conduct business and financial diligence for identified opportunities
Develop presentation materials and review opportunities/business cases with senior leadership
Support negotiations of term sheets and definitive agreements
Preferred Qualifications
Strong analytical skills and the ability to build and interpret complex financial models
Understanding of common biotech/pharma deal structures and the ability to think creatively through different options and scenarios
Knowledge of various valuation methods, such as discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions and how they are applied to biotech/pharma deals
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines
Knowledge of drug development process with prior biotech/pharma industry experience preferred
Experience working with cross-functional teams and presenting business cases to senior leadership
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and other financial and AI based software/databases
Prior experience in life science investment banking, consulting and/or other relevant corporate finance functions
Available to be onsite at least three days a week
Basic Required Education and Years of Experience
Bachelor's Degree and Ten Years’ Experience OR
Masters' Degree and Eight Years’ Experience OR
PhD and Two Years’ Experience
