Kite, a Gilead Sciences company, is looking for a strategic medical affairs leader to drive the medical strategy to accelerating CAR T pipeline, ensure access to treatments via Expanded Access Programs and provide technical and strategic support to regions across the globe. This is an exciting opportunity to join the global leader in the cell-therapy business and enhance patient impact by shaping the future of CAR T.
You will lead medical strategies for early pipeline products across hematologic and solid tumors and be an integral member of global medical affairs franchise strategy team. This is a high-impact, high-visibility position responsible for creating our global early develop medical plan across therapeutic areas of strategic importance to Kite. This role will report to the Vice President and Head of Global Franchise Medical Strategy.
This role can be based at our headquarters in Santa Monica, CA or be remote based.
Responsibilities
- Guides development of the Medical Affairs Strategy for the pipeline products and is responsible for the products Plan of Action (POA) and tracking the implementation of the plans
- Ensures the successful dissemination of innovative scientific and clinical information across multiple stakeholders, and fosters medical and scientific information exchange; maintains deep knowledge on evolving clinical landscapes
- Serves as medical representative to multiple early asset project teams, working in close cross-functional collaboration with clinical development, translational medicine, regulatory, market access, commercial and other functions
- Drives strategy and implementation of manage access programs (expanded access programs and compassionated use programs) to enable access to therapy options for patients with high unmet medical need and with no alternative treatment options
- Shapes a team to ensure regional medical readiness and successful implementation of global strategy and tactics. Provides medical, scientific and strategic support to markets and leads a team to implement regional medical tactics (regional congresses, symposiums, education and training)
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate Degree and 12 years of clinical or medical affairs experience
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more of the following advanced degrees in life sciences: MD, DO, PharmD, or PhD
- 7+ year’s clinical experience in hematology oncology therapeutic area
- Strategic thinking skills with demonstrated ability to successfully lead the ideation, development of a plan and move to action
- Demonstrated success managing teams (literally or indirectly) across global matrix organizations
- Willingness and ability to work hands-on and with a sense of urgency, in an exciting, entrepreneurial environment
- Existing global contacts with hematology institutions and/or hospitals
- Previous pharmaceutical industry experience
- Excellent working knowledge of regulatory and compliance environment
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present to and engage with a wide range of audiences
- Computer proficiency in all common IT work instruments
- Ability to travel frequently (+/- 30%)
