Job Description

The Senior Manager of Global CAR-T Competitive Intelligence will play a critical role within the global Competitive Intelligence (CI) activities in support of Kite’s cell therapy portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Kite Competitive Intelligence, the Senior Manager will focus on collaborating with a broad cross-functional group of stakeholders as well as senior leaders to collect, synthesize, and deliver key insights about the competitive environment and implications to Kite’s portfolio.

To develop and foster meaningful connections with stakeholders, we would prefer that this candidate be located at Kite’s Santa Monica, California headquarters (3 days per week onsite required) and would provide a generous relocation package as necessary. Based on a candidate’s expertise, we may also be open to considering this position as remotely based within contiguous United States.

The ideal candidate possesses at minimum these four competencies:

  • Deep knowledge regarding the drug development and commercialization process to assess and contextualize competitive efforts

  • Demonstrated ability to extract business insights and provide strategic recommendations based on analysis findings

  • Understanding of the hematology / oncology and/or autoimmune clinical landscape and the business of cell therapy

  • Demonstrated impact in a complex cross-functional environment

Key Responsibilities of Senior Manager of Global CAR-T CI include:

  • Gather, summarize, and share objective analysis of competitive (commercial, clinical, and scientific) information to inform business decision-making

  • Cultivate core CI initiatives, including assessment of competitive dynamics, monitor news updates, and maintain market landscapes for marketed and pipeline products

  • Develop competitive landscape assessments in new disease areas and assist with due diligence in close collaboration with Corporate Development and other early pipeline cross-functional colleagues as needed

  • Collaborate closely with Global Insights & Analytics to provide competitor assumptions for short- and long-range planning forecast

  • Create market research projects to inform competitor assumptions

  • Collaborate with the Kite CI team and cross-functional stakeholders, including Commercial, Business Development, Corporate Development, Medical Affairs, Clinical, Research, Regulatory, Legal, and Senior stakeholders to define goals and research needs

  • Serve as a point person within Kite to form an aligned internal point of view on competitive activities

  • Follow predefined standards to ensure legal and ethical approaches to CI, protecting business interests and confidentiality in select situations and work to improve processes

  • Up to 30% business travel to be expected

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate

OR

Master’s Degree and 6+ years of experience

OR

Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of experience

OR

Associate Degree and 10+ years of experience

OR

High School Diploma/GED and 12+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CI work experience preferred

  • Market research work experience preferred

  • Understanding of the hematology / oncology and/or cell therapy clinical landscape (3+ years of experience)

  • Understanding of autoimmune disease landscape and commercialization process

  • Thorough knowledge regarding the drug development and commercialization process to assess and contextualize competitive efforts

  • Excellent ability to perform competitive analyses and extract business insights

  • Ability to interpret and synthesize pre-clinical and clinical scientific data and identify broader implications for our programs and / or specific opportunities

  • History of autonomy in researching, formulating and delivering CI assessments (including basic information as well as strategic insights based on that information)

  • Experienced with using online data sources and scientific / market databases (e.g., Pubmed, clinicaltrials.gov, TrialTrove, Evaluate Pharma, etc.)

  • Demonstrated ability to present at and facilitate small group and large group meetings (with peers as well as higher-ups) to achieve pre-defined targets

  • Exceptional task administration skills including project planning, prioritization, goal setting, meeting administration and plan implementation)

  • Adaptable in a collaborative and complex cross-functional environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The salary range for this position is: $150,535.00 - $194,810.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
