We have an exciting opportunity within our Medical Affairs field team for a Senior Field Director, Medical Sciences, in HIV. This role will be filed based, managing Medical Scientists within HIV and will cover the Western United States.

*Please note the FD would need to be based in one of the hub cities: CA (LA or SD); Phoenix, or Las Vegas

Specific Job Requirements:

  • Manager

  • Advanced degree (i.e., MD, DO, PharmD, Ph.D., NP/PA) required.

  • Relevant experience must include at least 10 yrs. clinical practice experience.

  • Clinical practice experience within therapeutic areas of interest is highly preferred.

  • Industry experience preferred.

  • People management experience is highly preferred for managers.

Specific Education & Experience Requirements:


Leads and manages a team of Medical Scientists in an assigned region.
Responsible for ensuring the successful dissemination of innovative clinical information to thought leaders and fostering medical and scientific information exchange from and throughout the specific disease communities.

Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with current and emerging therapeutic area thought-leaders based on mutual respect and Gilead’s sincere interest in sharing its perspective on medical therapies. This includes but is not limited to Gilead-marketed products and obtaining feedback from the independent community of relevant healthcare professionals.
Delivers timely, accurate, and succinct communication of fair-balanced clinical and scientific presentations to healthcare professionals, both proactively and in response to requests for information, consistent with promotional compliance and regulatory requirements.


Coaches, oversees, and conducts performance evaluations of Medical Scientists via active observation of the team; establishment of a clearly defined team and individual goals & objectives (quantitative and qualitative); implementation of processes to routinely monitor progress


Coordinates Medical Sciences participation in Gilead advisory boards, symposia, and educational programs, such as speaker training and conference planning
Executes strategic plans consistent with the Therapeutic Area Medical Affairs Plan of Action (POA).


Collaborates effectively and in a compliant manner with colleagues in other functional areas such as Clinical Research, Medical Services, Sales, and Marketing, etc. Works independently with minimal supervision.
