We are seeking a highly motivated leader who will lead our Sourcing and Category team to support Kite’s Facilities and Engineering Organization including Capital Expenditures, Facility & Engineering Soft and Hard Goods and Services and Real Estate. This Director of Supply Chain – Sourcing Category Leader of Facilities and Engineering will be based in our Santa Monica, CA headquarters and report into the Senior Director of Global Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Operations.
Responsibilities of the Director of Supply Chain – Sourcing Category Leader of Facilities and Engineering include:
Develops and executes the global sourcing and category strategies aligned with broader company and F&E’s objectives
Creates a clear vision and develop long term strategic plans for the specific category spend area to support overarching category plans
Ensures that the category strategies are highly aligned to current and future business needs (and overall category strategy) and that the supply base is aligned with and capable of supporting these strategies
Drives communication/reporting of strategy to keep internal stakeholders informed of progress and benefits
Leads cross-functional collaboration with Facilities, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, Quality, Corporate, Gilead, and Legal
Identifies and initiates focused projects (sourcing, spend management & etc.) and manages pipeline of projects within selected categories to ensure results meet targets
Engages strategic sourcing team and procurement operations or tactical sourcing team to drive execution of projects in support of category strategies
Leads supplier relationship management for strategic suppliers within category
Achieves agreements that yield cost savings, time and schedule, continuity of supply and cash conversion cycles
Leads supplier selection, management, rationalization, performance monitoring, and reporting
Drives and/or supports sustainability process improvement programs for increased efficiency and effectiveness
Leads a team while recruiting, retaining, and developing talent
Basic Requirements:
PhD degree with 8+ years’ experience within Engineering and/or Business and/or Supply Chain and/or Operations and/or Supply Management
OR
MS / MA degree with 10+ years’ experience within Engineering and/or Business and/or Supply Chain and/or Operations and/or Supply Management
OR
BS / BA degree with 12+ years’ experience within Engineering and/or Business and/or Supply Chain and/or Operations and/or Supply Management
OR
High School degree with 16+ years’ experience within Engineering and/or Business and/or Supply Chain and/or Operations and/or Supply Management
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years’ experience in Facilities & Engineering or related leadership
10+ years of demonstrated ability leading the end-to-end sourcing process, from early supplier engagement through negotiation and ongoing performance management for these categories of spend <$300M
Strong history of analyzing the market, tracking supplier and competitive trends and build long-term roadmaps in partnership with manufacturing
Technical depth and; credibility to interact effectively with R&D and manufacturing leaders
Subject matter expertise in the functional area and provide commodity knowledge to internal clients on spend data, supply base, industry trends, benchmarking, and best practices
Skilled at working with very large and powerful suppliers
Demonstrated experience leading Sourcing Events (RfX) using Sourcing Tools such as SCOUT, Ariba
Strong reputation as an outstanding negotiator; personally, responsible for leading complex agreements with leading suppliers for favorable cost and supply arrangements
Deep understanding of cost drivers and cost models; analytical ability to connect this to favorable financial terms
Results-oriented leader known for employing fact-based analysis, world-class process expertise and well-honed negotiation skills to achieve breakthrough performance
Demonstrated ability to roll up one’s sleeves and lead by example whether digging into the data or leading a negotiation
Comfortable operating in a growth-oriented environment maintaining a high sense of urgency and performance management
Significant executive presence and ability to represent one’s organization effectively with executives internally and in the supply base
Global experience and an understanding of the nuances and differences among business cultures; able and willing to travel 15-20% post COVID19
